Hole in the wall? My orders were to rough you up if they couldn't find the blades but touch nothing if they did. Time to get them back in line.

I just looked it up and GSB are platinum and teflon. It might be the chromium that causes the issues.

I think he fell over after we he cleaned out the vodka. Very nice guy. Didn't speak any English. The dog liked him.

Well Boris isn't a bad guy, just not the brightest.

Don't let him know it was Texan vodka. He might come back and demand to know why it wasn't Stoli.

Well you did name the one coating that I was surprised to find on all four of the blades they list. Chromium didn't surprise me. Teflon did. I knew Voskhod was Teflon but didn't know the others had it as part of the mix as well. That may explain why I like the Rapira line so much. If they all have Teflon (and we don't know about Sharp Star or the two Super Stainless offerings) then I really am in blade heaven. Teflon is one coating that my face loves.

As far as your situation I would say that it is probably the chromium bugging you. If GSB doesn't bug you then it definitely isn't teflon that you have a problem with. This also brings up an interesting thought for me as well. Most platinum blades really don't agree with me. However, the Rapira PL's I have no problem with. Love them in fact. It may be that platinum without teflon is my kryptonite just like chromium is for you!

He's Russian. Vodka is vodka. They don't drink it for the taste. Besides, he probably thought it was just the Beluga that made it taste funny.

The teflon may protect your face from the platinum. I have a pretty rough beard and I'm pretty sure it takes the coating off on my first pass. If I stick to a one pass per blade shave I can use Ladas and Voskhod. After that I can almost feel the skin start burning as I make my additional passes. I can't remember how well the Rapira shaves went but since I only have 1 or 2 of each I don't think it was a favorite.

Makes sense. And you sound like me. I may not remember my exact rating/review of a blade but I can tell by the number on hand what I thought. LOL I always buy blades for testing in pairs, just in case I want to insure I don't get a dud if it's horrible. If I only have one of a blade in my stash I know I tried it, hated it, didn't add anymore and won't. If I have two then I know I bought one back to have a couple on hand. A good example....I have one Tiger blade in my stash. Only one. And will never have two. That's one I remember all too well!

I still have a tiger too. I'm planning on attempting to sharpen it on a finishing stone and/or pasted strop to see if I can fix it. I like the idea of a thicker blade that is more authentic for my old type but its a truly terrible shave experience. I don't have and flying eagle blades. I looked for them when I heard how bad they were but wasn't able to find any. Its the kind of train wreck a person just has to see for themselves.

Yes it is. When I tried the Flying Eagle it was a PIF from @Keithmax just to have me confirm that it was, in fact, the absolute worst blade in the world. I think it still is, but the Tiger gives it a run for the money.

Morning shave, evening post. A comfortable near BBS from the Rapira Super Stainless in my birth quarter Tech. Typical 2 pass shave with minimal touch up. For some reason the lather wasn't slick when I took my first strokes, so I went back to the scuttle and worked on it a bit more to bring out its typical slickness and protection. After the re-lather everything went smoothly. The Clubman was mild today.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

    Arko April!!

    What I got so far...
The Fatip Grande is remarkably similar in feel to my memory of Cadet OC. It's pretty wide open, and the comb curve is quite steep. A razor head like this is built for "riding the cap". My guess is that everyone who gets torn up by this razor is using a high angle of attack, and then applying heavy pressure to increase razor cutting efficiency. I made those mistakes myself with a Cadet OC in 2014, so I knew how to approach this razor a better way. Shallow angle is the key to Fatip. The teeth on the comb allow for really nice glide in XTG and ATG strokes. I will need to try a GSB in it on 30 April, for science, but this razor would be ok with pretty much any blade out there. Tha razor has nice heft for its size and the one I received had no issues with blade alignment or finish. The nickel finish rinses clean rather easily in cold water. Three shaves so far this month, all on a single Derby blade, and all were near BBS. No irritation issues at all, save for day one when I was trying to feel the angles. As noted Derby is in play, and it's been unremarkable. I really haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, and the blade will see day four.

If had any left I would send them your way but the cartel demanded them all. But to help you here is the link. Enjoy!

Well they are listed as out of stock so the boys did their job. While the cartel sometimes gets a bad rap it is trying to save the innocent from bad shaves....one Flying Eagle at a time!

I will double check my stash and see I can't find one. What a sad day to think the Flying Eagles maybe out of production.

It brings a tear to your eye. But not as fast as the feeling of actually using one!
