Arko April in Russia! April 5 Razor - 1959 Gillette Super Speed Blade - (2) Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Soap - Arko Post - Cold water rinse, Alum, The Veg Magnificent. That's really all I need to say. But you know me, I'll say more. I would say that today's shave was the best I've had in, well, a long time. Not that there haven't been great shaves but today......... The result was a two pass BBS, so there's that. Here are a few highlights. 1. The Wolf Whiskers with the TGN Silvertip is almost decadent. I think that every time I use it, but with the Arko face lather, it can't be beat. I said a year or so ago I didn't like badgers. Well, I spoke too soon. I want another one. 2. The Sharp Star blade was as smooth today as I've felt in any blade I think. And the audible feedback.....I turned the bathroom fan off just so I could hear it better. Tactile feedback? Butter smooth. 3. The post shave was absolutely sting free. Nothing from the alum, and nothing from the Veg. 4. Speaking of the Veg, man on man does that add a perfect finish. SWMBO loves it, but then, all those who are chosen do. I'm as content and happy as my crew after yesterday's minor snow shower in the Motherland. They don't want to come back yet!
Tabacstag! I shaved later than usual today because I want to look clean for parent teacher conferences tonight. I also set the Futur on six for the first pass to get a little closer, then stepped down to five for comfort. This worked very nicely, though I did get a little weeper at the bottom of my neck. I used this filter because Tabac is a gentleman's classic. The Body Shop Tea Tree face wash is a winner for me... I am seeing less redness from my rosacea in addition to prepping my stubble for its demise.
Thanks Bill! Yea I didn't have time to post yesterday, so I figured I would do 2 for today. Double Whammy!
Razor: Gillette Tech 1939-45 Blade: Dorco ST 301 Platinum SK (3) Brush: WDC-8 TGN Finest Soap: Route 66 Cavendish A/S: Myrsol Agua de Limon Bowl: Knockout Shave Still very happen with this South Korean blade. Got a DFS today. The Route 66 Cavendish soap is lightly spiced cedar wood mingles with notes of bergamot, bay and fir; nicely balanced with the slightly sweet, warm aroma of Cavendish cut and cured tobacco leaf. Outstanding shave soap.
Prep - Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam Razor - Ever Ready 1912 (Shimmed) Blade - Personna GEM SE Stainless (#3) Brush - Shavemac Raptor 26/52 DO1 3 Band Bulb Soap - Razor Master Uula After - Frozen towel / Cien Ice A/S Result - Dolphin Smooth The 1912 can now take its place beside the Clog Pruf. Up until now, no other razor had given me quite as good a result as the Clog Pruf. I put this down to the shim which is a bit of a revelation, giving a result that is unbeatable. I will be interested to see if it makes any difference to blade longevity. Another reason the shave went so well is this soap. Not only has it got heaps of cushioning and glide but it may have the best post shave feel of them all. Helps that the scent makes me really hungry.
Razor: Feather AS-D2 2015 Brush: Jerusalem Olive Wood/WD Silvertip 24/48 Mug: Old Spice (early glass Mug 06) 1961 - 1964 First Mug with a taper last without a lip on top Cream: TOBS Coconut cream Blade: Feather (2) Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Post Shave Gel, Old Spice original Shulton 1983 -Porcelain Sail Boat The Feather blade locked in and off we go to another great shave. Whipped up some great lather with the TOBS Coconut and the Silvertip. I let the weight of the razor do all the work, for a nice 2 pass shave. I very rarely nick myself or even get a weeper, but with this razor I seem to be able to go with almost reckless abandon, with no ill effects. Another great shave, Finished with the WH, and then some soothing JB. After cleanup some vintage Old Spice from 1983. Gotta love the Spice Ship! Sailing away on a nice day.....
Love the handle and it performs superbly with the R41 head. The handle alone was worth the 10 bucks i paid for it on sale, it's flawless.
