Looks like the batting line-up in your shave cave this month will be easy to keep track of....Maybe we'll be looking at the blade and brush stats for keeping track of...

Now THAT'S a man that enjoys the craft! Can't say I ever shaved "just because", not that it never crossed my mind.

Woke up this morning to whisker length that’s similar to what I normally see before my last pass of a daily shave. (Great shave yesterday!) So I decided to do a one pass, ATG shave, with buffing if necessary to attempt BBS.

Though I mention the BBS chase, my primary objective was to do an " @Bama Samurai " (with Laser-like Focus) assessment of my blade angle. I love the design of this razor and would commit it to my top ten if I can learn to use it as efficiently as possible.

So I borrowed the large makeup mirror of SWMBO, you know the type, with magnification that allows examination of each and every whisker. By doing so, I learned that the optimum angle was just a bit more acute than I thought (further away from flat on my face). It seems to be at the spot of the most audible feedback.

A bonus benefit of using the magnification mirror is that I got an even better view of my beard map, which was a bit different than I thought, and as you’d expect, in those areas that I refer to as my trouble spots. I also learned that I’m still not capable of doing ATG around my upper lip, corners of mouth, nor most of my chin. So this is where I do the most buffing. Perhaps a different blade may help with this razor? I plan to try 3 or 4 over the course of the month, including the potential of using a Twin blade.

In the end I achieved the BBS goal, but most importantly I learned a bunch about this razor and my beard. Try using a mag mirror from time to time - at least to check technique.

    Cheers!

I can dig it Ru.....Love those little magnifying mirrors on the sizzor type brackets that pull away from the wall, and you can still see the normal mirror behind it....Some of the really nice hotels, like in Dubai or Qatar have those in the mens side of the bathroom...I loved it when I got a room with those....Gonna install one in my save-cave....

Vintage (LazyLens 20160405 073854 HD).jpg Been super busy since the evening of April fools. Had a significant process upset, which also consumed my weekend:(
Tonight will be using TSD lanolin soap, lavender scented. Prep will use home grown psi, also lavender scented. Polished off with TSD as (do I really have to say it?)
I'm again using the GEM pb. New blade; I got 7 great shaves out of the last one.
I love lavender as the scent is just plain relaxing to me. A great bbs shave and time to unwind:)

    Lost my mind tonight.

I went way out on a limb for me tonight. I loaded my Bunny V2 with a cut down feather AS and removed the comb.:signs136:
I also used @Jayaruh #57 with some Tabac soap. What a nice brush.

    Razor: Bunny V2 no comb.
    Blade: Feather AC cutdown.
    Brush: JR #57 Maggard Synthetic.
    Soap: Tabac
    AS: AV classic Arctic Blue

Lathered up for the first pass. Man I don't mind telling you I was a bit nervous. The brush whipped up a nice slick lather Yogurt like. Started my first pass WTG. I played the top spring on my cheek, then slowly lowered it down until the blade made contact. Man is this louder than with a comb. I took nice easy light strokes. I got 3 weepers the first pass 2 on my chin and one on my adams apple. The reduction was pretty good. I would say on par with my Wild comb.

Second pass XTG went with no hitches excellent reduction. no more blood loss. I could have stopped here, but opted for the third ATG.

The third pass ATG went same as second one. no more blood. I had to give it a go. ended with a BBS shave. with mild irritation. my aluminum block let me know. The AS was nice and soothing. I am not sure I will do this again.

I just picked up a mirror exactly like that one at an antique store a couple weeks ago for less than 15 dollars . I thought about making a tray that goes across the bathtub and mounting it on that so I can shave while I'm soaking in a tub .

So do you need to design a "I Must Be Crazy" combless comb.

Groundhog Day! Another excellent one-pass ATG yesterday, lead to another one-pass ATG today.

As good as these four shaves have been with the ‘Chick’ blade, I’m hoping for even better with some of my NOS blades during the rest of the month.

Any blade suggestions from F owners?

    I have:
    - NOS Ultra Platinum Dutch ("Dog Danglies")
    - NOS Schick Plus Platinum (1980s?)
    - Personna (?)
    - Personna 74 (1970s)
    - Feather Pro (Artist Club) Cut down to fit the F
    - Schick Twin Injector (1973)

    Cheers!
