How do you make your coffee?

    Nothing fancy here. Hamilton Beach drip machine, Firehouse Coffee Roasters Island Blend, a sprinkling of salt to smooth it out, small amount of cream and we're good to go.

    Salt in coffee is new to me. It sounds like shoving a slice of lime into a bottle of Corona to make a bad beer drinkable.:)

    You should try it sometime. Like @Bama Samurai said it takes away all the bitterness in the coffee and smoothes it out. About 2 pinches of salt in the grounds before brewing per pot is enough. We've done blind taste tests at work and everyone can tell a difference and picks the salted coffee as the best tasting.

    Yep. It works, as does clean eggshell.

    Thought I was the only one who does that.

    I guess not. :D

    As to the salt debate... sea salt for the win... you don't get the metallic taste you sometimes get with iodized table salt.

    Not sure we have sea salt, I'll need to check.

    TJ Maxx has decent French presses for $10-$15. Probably should get one for when I'm making coffee just for myself.

    the cleanup is a little bit of a pain but they make great coffee. and you can just throw them in the dishwasher after you remove the grounds.

    Pink Himalayan salt also freshly ground if you really want to be a snob. :D

    I had one about 10 years ago that I quit using cuz I got lazy (converted it to a mineral oil dunk tank for razors). It made good coffee but back then I wasn't grinding Peet beans, so I'm sure one will be well worth the money now.

    It continues to amaze me what even a tiny pinch of sea salt will do for a cup of coffee. :)

    Today's blend... Keto or "fatty" coffee as I've done for the last week or so. This time, with 3 coffee scoops of whole been Mayorga (sp?) Cafe' Cubano blend via French Press. A pinch of sea salt, a 1/4 tsp. of xylitol (natural sweetener), and a tsp. of coconut oil.

    I can't believe the difference that salt makes to a cup of coffee. My work recently switched to a Keurig and my stomach can tell the difference. I wouldn't think that adding salt to the brewed coffee would be the same but I'm going to give it a try
