  2. SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20160408_174608.jpg

Prep: MLS Sandalwood pre shave butter
    Razor: Maggard MR 18c
    Blade: Rockwell (3rd shave)
    Brush: RazoRock plissoft
    Soap: Clubman shaving soap
Post: alum block, Lucky Tiger menthol cream
    Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman

2 pass shave today. Stopped by the local beauty store because I had some time to kill, and I found the Clubman soap and LT vanishing cream (which seems to be similar to Noxzema). The Clubman soap made a decent lather and the scent is close to the original scent, but maybe not as strong. It is a bit hard to load from the small container, but it is manageable. Ended up with a few nicks and some irritation, but a very smooth finish. Hope everyone had a great shave!

  3. Lol that was great! Gremlins is a classic.

    TESC Pre-Shave Oil
    Speick Shave Cream
    Jayaruh #56 synthetic
    Gillette Goodwill LC
    Personna Super
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Speick After Shave

The Speick Shave Cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #56 synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Goodwill LC razor with a Personna Super blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Speick After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

This was an easy shave. Every time I use one of these 1940's style Super Speeds I get a great shave. Today was no different. A two pass DFS.

  8. Excellent job on the replate by Razor Emporium. They did an outstanding job with my Fatboy!!

  9. At my house they do.
I use Aveeno fragrance free body wash with a dash of a favorite aftershave or cologne in a small plastic travel (2-3oz) bottle.
Avoid making too much at once and only use enough fragrance as necessary.
Add a few drops to the soap, shake it up and you're ready to go.
I've done the same thing with a good moisturizing lotion to create an aftershave balm.
  10. It's very clean Alan. :)

  12. Thank You Robyflexx. I did just get this one out of the ultrasonic cleaner. It was one I gave to a friend to try traditional wet shaving with, but he couldn't get the hang of it, so he gave it back to me. It was pretty crusty when he got done with it.

  15. Wow! You lent him out a fine razor, he couldn't learn to shave with it and he returns it grimey!? Sounds like you're in the market for a new friend! :happy097: Just Kidding :)

    Razor: Rockwell W/6 Plate
    Blade: Kai (1)
    Brush: Duke 3 in Pure
Soap : Pre de Provence 63
    AS: Stirling Green

Day 4 on the cold water express. Not going to go all out and say I like it, but I am getting used to it at least.

The Pure Duke doesn't have a regular space in the rotation, but it always comes out when I have missed a day/days. Every once in a while I just want that scritchy feeling, and it fills that niche very well.

I have been critical of the Rockwell on its more aggressive plates. Experimenting a bit, went with a super sharp blade to see how it went. My opinion stands. That razor is fantastic on mild to medium plates, but the 5 and 6 plates are not any where near as efficient as their face feel would suggest. It is still a good "three or four razors in one" system, but for aggressive I have several others that give me at least as close of a shave, and are much more comfortable.

I love the scent of Pre de Provence 63 soap, and maybe I don't use it often enough to have it well dialed in, but it just doesn't quite make it into top tier slick for me.

I hope everyone has a good evening, and a nice weekend.

  19. I swear when I posted my SOTD photo this morning it was right side up! I checked before I clicked post reply. And now this evening when I checked the photo was upside down. Me thinks the gremlin is at work again!

  20. TOBS should come with a label: "Warning! When this product reaches the point where only 1/4 of the tub remains, a gremlin will come into your home every night while you sleep and refill your container with just enough cream to drive you crazy!":scared011:
