I may have to pick up a pack of these. I've been using Gillette Sensor 3 disposables but they aren't cutting it (lol get it?!?!) and getting pretty expensive. Tried using an R41 for a head shave 2 weeks ago and it looked like the shower scene out of Psycho.

Note to self- when acquiring new razors, be sure to give them a good stropping or touch up after you clean them. First use of this razor. It is a “Wapi” razor. Full name is Wapienica, and it was made in Poland for Russian hospitals in the 1970s. That's right, a Russian straight that cuts hair. Back off Cartel boys. 5/8 French tip with a half hollow grind. Stainless steel scales. This is a heavy razor. They were originally designed to be used to shave body hair prior to surgery, and are all steel so they can be autoclaved. Many were sold a few years back as NOS and they do work for face shaving, but are a little different in how they feel. Because I have gotten so many razors back from getting honed recently, I didn’t think to even strop this one. Because it is a heavy razor, it plowed through all my whiskers, and left me with a CCS, but wasn’t all that comfortable. I didn’t realize I hadn’t stropped it until I only had a little of a cheek left on my second pass, so I just powered through. Alum spoke to me this morning. Aftershave yelled. Going to touch up this razor and try it again. Due to the weight and the grind, it felt and reacted differently than a lot of my full hollows. Route 66 Sweeny Todd gave a great shave as expected. Island lime was a nice complement to it.
Feb 9 Fool's Pass #.... not today Today's razor is a Williams Purist. I had rolled the edge so I had to hone the razor. I started off giving myself a small cut, I haven't done that in a long time. The razor felt 'tuggy' and not that sharp. The shaving was feeling rough so I think I did not do a good job honing it. I was 1 for 2 on the honing as the other razor I honed shave great. I decided to follow the advice I give to others and if it doesn't feel right put the straight razor down. I did three passes but no ATG or Fool's pass today. Surprisingly zero irritation but also not that close a shave. Irritation A+ Closeness B- Smoothness C Keenness B
That's a nice looking piece of Soviet steel you've got there. Yeah, I'll try to keep the boys at bay. Nice find!
Friday Shower/Shave Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Peppermint bar soap Pso- Homemade mint PSO Brush- RazoRock Plissoft Razor-Gillette Slim on 9 Blade- Gillette Silver Blue (4) Soap- Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Gondolier Thayers Witch Hazel ASB- Nivea Sensitive scented with grapefruit essential oil Another wonderful shave tonight. This combo of brush/soap/razor/blade just plain works. I just did 2 passes tonight for a DFS bordering on BBS, absolutely zero irritation. I'm really liking the Nivea and grapefruit combo, they go really well together. I'm not progressing very quickly with my left hand, I just find it hard to find the angle. My perspective is off. I figure I have plenty of time to learn so I'll keep chugging along. Have a great day folks! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
4/9/16 Feather MR3 Neo TGN Synthetic Mystic Water Orange Vanilla Fine L'Orange A great shave this morning. The Feather mowed down the stubble quickly. Using better soaps and with much improved technique made the last 2 shaves fun. Finished off with a splash of Fine L'Orange. I hope everyone has a great Saturday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SOTD April 9, 2016 Prep: Warm shower Blade: Gillette Platinum Razor: 1964 Travel Tech Brush: Trader Joes synthetic Lather: TSD Lanolin Gunpowder Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Fine Platinum, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up No pic again due to travel. A wet shaving convert of mine is also on this trip and allowed me to try the TSD Gunpowder. It was a great soap just like I expected. The scent is different. I think Gunpowder is an apt term. I can't really describe it. But nice performance. I hope to post pictures of these shaves on Sunday when I get back to my computer. My iPhone pics are always sideways! Have a great day!

Intro to Straight Razor Shaving ( Day 9 of 120 Days) Ontario Cutlery Co. 5/8ths Omega 81052 Boar Brush (1st use) Cella (1st use) Fine American Blend (1st use) Lot's of 1st's for my shave today. Got my package from Maggards yesterday evening and decided to use some new gear today. 3 pass shave today as usual but managed to cut my jawline pretty good. Besides that it was a great shave. BBS on the cheeks and a DFS on the neck. The brush performed pretty well for it's first use and I look forward to breaking it in. My views on the Cella? Long story short I will be buying a 1kg brick of it ASAP. This croap has made it into my top 3 soaps I use the most. Finished off with Fine American Blend and I think I have found my favorite aftershave. Amazing scent and it has great staying power. Hope everyone is having a great day!
