Its Polish made for Russians. That explains why it shaves decently. Less vodka on the assembly line. It looks great I'll have to keep an eye out to try and find one.
Boarding a plane for home I stopped in five antique shops on the way to Milwaukee this morning and found one razor. It was an Ever-Ready 1914 and they wanted $45. I passed. I can't wait for my monthly Antiques Fair tomorrow morning. The pickings are usually good there. Have a great Saturday!
Oh no, they just took us of the plane because of storms in Las Vegas, where I am supposed to connect to Sacramento. It looks like I won't be home until $11:00 pm if things go right, tomorrow if they don't. I'll be sitting in an airport for the next few hours with a smart phone and an eBay app. This could get expensive
Razor: Gillette Tech 1939-45 Blade: Dorco ST 301 Platinum SK (7) Brush: Jayaruh JR #45 Walnut Honey Comb Soap: Jeeves Soap Private Study A/S: Fine Platinum Bowl: Once a Marine Always a Marine Scuttle I have had great shaves this week with the Dorco ST Platinum blade. I will put in a new blade tomorrow although I'm sure I could probably get a few more shaves out of this one. This is another fine soap from Jeeves Soap. Their Private Study Tallow Soap will make you feel like you are sailing on the seven sea's. A classic bay rum scent made with West Indie bay, sweet orange, rum, spices and just a touch of patchouli and vanilla. Great stuff. Fine Platinum is an outstanding aftershave. JR#45 is an excellent brush. The old Tech performed very well.
@NCoxSTL, Besides the flying eagle and the Tiger 3H what are your worst 10 blades? I'm thinking about snapping them in half and trying them in a cheap Parker style shavette for MayHAM.
You make me proud just for the idea. Still at work so let me give it some thought and I'll get you the list later this evening. My worst 10 blades in a cheap shavette? Genius. Daring, possibly stupid, but genius. Two thumbs up. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
I'm thinking of only using bargain soaps too. Arko, VdH, Williams. . . Might be a chance to break in my VdH boar brush too. MayHAM with the Hurt Hinge, What could be better.
Well arko and vdh aren't bad. But Williams? Don't lose your mind! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
SOTD April 9, 2016 Fine American Blend PAV Barbershop Envy White @clint64 reknot Blackland Blackbird Polsilver Super Iridium #1 Witch Hazel, Unrefined Shea Butter, Fine American Blend Outstanding two pass near BBS shave with the Blackbird today. PAV brush gave up the lightly scented lather quickly. Fine American Blend, thick and creamy lather, excellent scent, great glide and good skin care. What's not to like? Finished with a generous splash of Fine American Blend. A match made in barbershop heaven. Hope you all are having a great weekend. Happy Saturday!
Neil has some "interesting" ideas of fun and one of them is to test the limits of technique but choosing the worst blades and razors to try getting decent shaves out of them. There in usually much less blood then we think there will be but its always fun to read about it. The month of May has already been named Mayham and I can't wait to see what kind of pain he gets himself into. For science of course. This time around I think I'll join him.
I nearly forgot. This morning the alarm went off. I turned it off then somewhere between that action and getting up I fell asleep and woke up 10 minutes after I needed to be at work. 12 minutes after that I clocked in and started rushing to catch back up. I didn't get a shave as a result.
Well I say MAYhem. It's the month of May focus. I think last year I did bad blades all month, half of them with bad razors. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Don't know why I spelt it Mayham but ham in May does sound good as well...back to shaving I will take part in Mayhem... I'll go with my Old Type and a Derby for Mayhem. Never gotten a blood free shave from an old type and its like shaving with a sea urchin when I use a Derby.
Saturday Shower/Shave Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Peppermint bar soap Pso- Homemade grapefruit PSO Brush- RazoRock Plissoft Razor-Gillette Slim on 9 Blade- Gillette Silver Blue (5) Soap- Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Gondolier Thayers Witch Hazel scented with grapefruit EO ASB- Nivea Sensitive scented with grapefruit EO I went full on grapefruit EO tonight, I used it in a new batch of PSO, I added it to my Thayers and to my Nivea ASB. Very refreshing and the Nivea makes the scent last a decent amount of time. I retired the GSB after this shave, it probably could have gone again but I wanted to start fresh on Sunday. Three passes again tonight for a BBS shave. It's time for dinner and relaxing with the family. I skipped using my left hand tonight and took my time, a very relaxing shave. Learning skin stretching contributed the greatest improvement in my shaves, much easier to get smooth with no irritation. I plan on being ready for when the Darkside calls me up. Have a great day folks! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
