I just got an Arko Stick pif from @Bama Samurai. I will be trying it out tomorrow! Early impression on the scent is positive. Definitely some lemon, but it also has something I can't quite place. Maybe cardamom. Thanks @Bama Samurai!
I only smell soap with my Arko. The scents is interesting for sure. I keep thinking I'm smelling industrial soap.. The gritty hard powder mechanics use to use .
Another fun morning at the monthly Antiques Fair. I bought two straights. I bought these four because the price for the lot was too good to pass up.
I have been curious about the AV Ice Sport. I haven't been able to find it locally for some time now. Is it much different from the original?
I used it this morning. It is a lighter Aqua Velva scent with a light menthol effect. I call it crisp, if that makes sense. For someone that is sensitive to the scent/feel of menthol, this would be perfect I think. YMMV. I like it.
Thank you. I have some of the regular AV and love the scent and the menthol. Almost pulled the trigger on the Musk, but it costs more for a smaller bottle locally, plus the Musk scent seems light.
I've got 4 Musk aftershaves. Old Spice (India) Royall Pinaud Clubman Aqua Velva If I had to get rid of one it'd be the Aqua Velva.
Very Nice. Is that the red oak stain? I had the same reaction...you have to see and feel these brushes in person before you can truly appreciate the craftsmanship. Made by hand. Congrats.
and it's all true. they have excellent products and if you're a careful shopper you can get the best deals by buying the 8oz bottles on sale. If you want to sniff some before buying I can tell you that Maggard doesn't carry them but if you're in Traverse City stop in to Votruba Leather downtown and you'll find a shaving display with Col Conk, a few razors, and Royall Fragrances with testers for sampling.
Awesome! Thanks for the advice John. I go to maggards pretty regularly since they are only and hour away. About a year ago there was a house I was working on, and they had a bottle of Royall Bay Rhum so I got to take a whiff. The one I am most curious about is the Rugby scent, don't hear much about it.
Alright, here goes... this is my Haul already for the month. Received delivery of some things from home. Two Shulton Old Spice aftershave bottles (mostly full), an original OS deodorant, a can of OS shaving cream, a Gillette DE adjustable (I think from 1970) my Dad tried (he's always been an electric shaver), and my Great Grandfathers shaving mug/scuttle. And a single vintage Gillette blade in case... won't be using it, a little dirty. Being new, I have a question about the extra scoop on the mug. Its approximately razor head shape, but whats it used for? Second set of purchases: stopped by a shop or two on the way home the other day, picked up a Burma Shave mug, another white/blue vintage mug/scuttle with an intact handle for $3.50 (was labeled tea cup? how'd I do?). New products from the store: AV original and AV musk, new blades from Kroger (made in Israel). And to round it off, 3 new Williams Mug soaps and a pack of stypic pencils.
If you don't mind me asking, what supply store did you get the Clubman Shaving soap from? Been looking to see if is carried by any stores, but no luck so far. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
