The job of our Shave Den Confidential Under-lather Reporters is never an easy one....Continue Sir, with your daring deeds of Journalistic Prowess.....Your hard work is always appreciated, as it is only under those watchful eyes of our selfless commentators on the streets, back alleys and back room shave caves, can we hope for a little transparancy in the dog eat dog shaving scene of today....:smiley respect:

Hopefully we will hear back from our man on the street, Rufus T with another shocking, surprising, suspenceful and always informative shaving expose...There are 8 million stories in the Naked Shave Cave....This could have been one of them.....

Thanks Karl....That was beautiful....I'm telling you...I think the Pulitzer People (Shave Review Division) have their eyes on you for next year's Prize.....I think you're a shoe in.....Your work with the 'H' type alone warrants it....Your H type posts have proven to be provocative aswell as ground breaking!

After reading this last night, I grabbed my H type Men's Travel-jector for the following shave, and then prepared for a 3 day trip out of town for the PNW WA beaches....It was such a pleasure to pack my shaving kit for this trip as it's the first time packing my H Type...

    Today's (Sunday) shave:

    Ernst Scharff Rapide
Rapide wedge blade (6 shaves since honing)
    The Grooming Co. synthetic brush
    Stirling Electric Sheep soap
    Grey Flannel aftershave

Today, aside from simply enjoying another shave with a Rapide, I wanted to compare this one with the spring loaded blade holders and blade stops to the earlier model with adjustable blade holders and no blade stops that I used for yesterday's shave. I used the same blade and soap to minimize variables.

The differences in the two razors can be seen here, with today's choice on the right:

Also worth noting is that the angle at which the blade is presented is different on the two razors, with the one on the right having more of a downward angle.

Despite these differences, today's shave was a lot like yesterday's shave, which isn't a bad thing at all. :happy088:

    Today's shave - Monday April 11

    J. A. Henkels Twinworks Rapide
Henkels Rapide wedge blade (4th shave since honing)
    The Grooming Co. synthetic brush
Art of Shaving Sandalwood soap (old style tallow based)
    Myrsol Agua de Limon aftershave

The J. A. Henkels Twinworks Rapide is probably the best known of the Rapides despite its being a clone of the Ernst Scharff Rapide that was introduced in 1911 when the Scharff patent expired. The head is identical to the spring-loaded blade clip version of the Scharff Rapide. Henkels merely replaced the handle with a larger knurled version.

They also supplied a blade made from Henkels Solingen steel, which is pretty good stuff to say the least and hones to a beautiful edge.

Not surprisingly, it shaves a lot like the Ernst Scharff Rapide. :signs021:

Makes little difference. You can even adjust "on the fly" while shaving.

Rob, the blade in it is used. Change it before you shave.
