First pass WTG, I began to doubt the wisdom of Robyflexx. He has never led me astray, but my whiskers initially protested. He warned me of this, though...must keep the faith. Second pass XTG, much better. Third pass, ATG, BBS smooth. As many others have experienced, the difference is the feel of the skin after the shave. One word seems to sum it up, happy. Will definitely be experimenting with the cold water shave more. A splash of cold water to begin the shave is alarming, though, and will have to be normalized in my mind.

Here's another thing for y'all to try if you don't already, keep you witch hazel and aftershave in the fridge. For the full on cold water experience. ;)

That is a wonderful idea, I guess I'll have to explain myself to the little woman why it's in there

Just tell her it works like baking soda....help keep the smells in the fridge at bay....maybe she'll buy that. Didn't work for me though :D

I put my witch hazel and Nivea ASB in the fridge last night to give it a shot. I'm happy it works and I will be using it tonight.

ah, I take it you prefer to use warm/hot water for it, then your usual lineup of "Ice-Bucket-Challenge Nation.

Good evening gents...I am curious how many of you cold water shavers live in warm climates? I have often thought of cold water shaving but when you live in a cold climate as I do then the idea of splashing cold water on my face early in the morning has the same appeal as chewing tinfoil. For me a warm face cloth after a nice shave it the ticket to heaven. But maybe this summer I will give it a try. I like the theory of cold water shaving, but not the practice. I am wondering if the climate you live in influences your choice? Similar to those who enjoy mentholated shaves.

There is creedence to this as I live in Fl. The thing is I stumbled upon cold water shaving as a means to reduce irritation and not for the rush. In the end it just happened to be invigorating and agrees with my skin whereas warm and hot water irritated it. :)

I do live in north east Florida....but it does get a little cold. Not up north cold, bout I also don't use the heater. So some mornings in the winter it will be in the 50s in the house, but I'll still use cold water. For me at least the lack of irritation outweighs the uncomfortable chill for a few minutes.

I live in Alabama. I've been using cold water exclusively the past 5-6 weeks, and yes the climate is generally warm. But I've gotten used to it and don't think it will be too bad even in the winter.

You have to try putting your shaving liquids in the refrigerator. I put my PSO, Thayers and Nivea ASB in there last night. I used them tonight and they feel amazing. Pair them with ice cold water, it's something to be experienced. I'm going to have to set aside space in the fridge from now on.
