1. I'm doing some traveling in the next month, which is a bit unusual. What do you use to travel with? Is it worth purchasing a retractable brush?

  2. Synthetics dry fast and don't require pre-soaking. Some come with travel cases but not needed.
  3. I have a synthetic that I store in a toilet paper tube. Someone in TSD gave me that idea. It's a cheap brush so if anything happens it won't matter much.

  4. I carry a small Semogue (1320?).

Geez, toilet paper tube! Why didn't I think of that?

  5. Do the synethics hold up better to travel? I travel a lot for work and I have gone through two badger hair travel brushes b/c they start to disintegrate. I think b/c they dont always get 100% dry before storage....the glue loosens up and they shed badger hair constantly. This is my theory anyway.
  6. Good idea. Plumbing tubing from the hardware store would also work. PVC would last a life time.

  7. I think it may have been @Troy M who told me about the toilet paper tube. Is that right, Troy?
  8. I would think the synthetic brush would last longer. Unless the synthetic knot is exceptionally dense, most dry very quickly. I use one for my travel brush on my motorcycle trips and have been very pleased.

Here's mine. Small little handle and a 24mm synthetic knot. Perfect for road shaves as it's dry in an hour

  10. I take the same brushes I use at home. Keep 'em in a pill bottle that has holes drilled top and bottom.

  12. This is the first I have seen you around, Jeremy. Welcome to The Den.

  15. Here are my two little travelers. I am pretty much gone during the week, every week in the summer, so this was my answer to having a little choice, and not sacrificing quality, while saving a little space.

Both brushes are smaller than what I would choose at home, but both of them are quality, have a hefty feel, and the knots punch above their weight class. A guy just has to load up until he can see that knot become full, and he easily has enough for three passes.

I am a night shaver, and the Duke is basically dried by morning, but I still tend to get him out when I can give him a day off to dry before I pack him back up.

This is my 2016 experiment, anyway.

  17. +1 works great
  18. I'd never remember my brush if I used the same one at home that I use on the road.... Keep me posted on the Simpson experiment.
