When my finances allow I'll be purchasing a Norton 4k/8k. Presently I only have a barbers hone. It's unsuitable for setting bevels, only touching up a previously well maintained blade. I haven't sent one out for the service, so I do have a couple I've brought up to shave ready, and several that I hold and dream of the future shave I'll enjoy. This Curley's frame back safety straight is not ready for prime time, yet.
One of my friends is a luthier, and makes Mandolins. I had mentioned my limited tools to make things like scales for razors. He asked for the size of blanks I was looking for, and brought me these maple pieces from his scrap pile. I know the grain typically runs the other way, but as long as they don't snap when I pin them. They are 1/8 by 1 by 6 inches.
The Haslinger Coconut soap that @Primotenore PIFED me just arrived! Will shave with it tomorrow and post on the SOTD. Joseph!

Today I got me a new camera. It is a Canon Elph 160. It was marked down $20 at Sam's Club. Retail price $120, sells at Sams for $100, so I got it for $80. Initial results are very promising. This is going to fill the bill very nicely I believe. Here are a few of the initial pictures I took with it.
