    Friday 4/15/16 shave:

Prep: Hot shower, Nivea Face Wash
    Brush: Fine Angel Hair synthetic
    Lather: RazoRock One-X
Razor: 1st quarter 1971 Black Handle Gillette SS
    Blade: Q-Ball Platinum (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (7, 8, 9)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Thayer's Witch Hazel pad, RazoRock One-X AS splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

It's official: I really like the Q-Ball blades. They're probably barely less sharp than a Bic but absolutely as smooth. . . at least, that's how they are on my face. I'm getting better at the water ratio for my Fine Angel Hair synthetic, so the lather was very good today. Pair the super-smooth blade with very good lather and what is, for me, a very mild razor, and it turned out to be an exemplary, near-BBS morning.

Hello TSD - in preparation for the upcoming Bunny test drive I decided to pause my straight razor focus and switch to the injector for a few days:

    - Jeeves of Hudson Street "Conservatory"
    - Whipped Dog High Mountain Badger
    - Schick G
    - Ted Pella/Personna blade
    - Tüff sensitiv Rasierwasser
    - Clubman Special Reserve

Very fine shave - smooth and pretty much BBS after two passes WTG and ATG. It's really easy to find the correct angle with the Schick. Very manoeuverable, great handling, just a fine razor.
And I must admit ... as much as I enjoy the occasional use of synthetic brushes my favorites are still the badgers.

You all have a great day :happy088:

Today was definitely something different. I've had two straight razors of my grandpa's tucked away in a drawer for over 30 years. I finally got them honed and put one to use this morning for my first pass at a straight razor shave. :shocked003: The advice from those who know is to start with just your cheeks until the feel is comfortable. I pushed that slightly and did a first pass above the jawline so I did my lip and chin as well. Yeah, the advice to start slow is good. Some strokes were clean and smooth, others tentative and tuggy. But it did it's job and I was satisfied. :happy088:

The bonus of starting slow with the straight is that it gave me an opportunity to use my black handled early E2 for the rest of the shave. The blade was on it's last legs but at the end of the shave it was razors 1, whiskers 0. No nicks, cuts, or weepers. :happy036:

    Blade: Ladas
Lather: The Strop Shoppe Russian Tea

I want to thank Clint @theFAT98 for giving me the heads up about The Strop Shoppe, this soap is fantastic! They will no longer be making soaps but I just checked Maggards and they have a wide variety in stock, if you don't have this soap maker in your den this is your only chance. I love my Gillette Aristocrat! Smooth shaving. The RR Disruptor has plenty of backbone.

Good morning friends! After giving my 57 Super Speed a shine job yesterday I decided to show her off today! Fantastic shave! Day 4 on the sputnik and still sharp and smooth. I was able to dial in the angle today and man was it nice. I could have stopped after two passes but it felt so good I went for a third excellent DFS+ this morning and looking forward to the weekend! Have a great shave, a great day, and a great weekend everyone!
