SOTD April 15, 2016 Prep: Warm shower Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (2) Razor: Maggard MR1 handle with V2 open comb Brush: Trader Joes synthetic Lather: Country Club Cahaba Blues Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Fine American Blend, Nivea sensitive balm WTG Light beard growth due to a great shave yesterday. I went with a single WTG pass with no touch-up. There's a little stubble left but it's not a big deal for me today. I'll probably take a little more time tomorrow and do a couple of passes. The Rapira blade is working quite well with the Maggard razor. The Cahaba Blues soap is fantastic as always. All in all a nice shave. Hope you all had a great Friday!
Saturday's TESC Pre-Shave Oil Mitchell's Wool Fat Jayaruh #51 synthetic Gillette Blue Tip Voskhod CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Rose Petal WH Florida Water The Mitchell's Wool Fat face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #51 synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Blue Tip razor with a Voskhod blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Florida Water. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
I'm going to dig mine out and see if I can do the same thing. Great post Karl! (BTW, if it works you inspired me to give it a try. If a lot of blood occurs......)

I'm baaaaaaack! Planned SOTD for Saturday, April 16 DRH Arlington Cream CH2 SiLVERTiP 1940 Gillette Milord Tech Personna Med Prep (2)DRH Arlington AS After 5 days without shaving, I finally picked up from USPS my next shave soap/AS D.R. Harris Arlington Shaving Cream. Yes, it cost me my membership in the NB '16 club (just because I had to have the matching AS) Was that unfair? You be the judge. @Robyflexx had a successful shave with the Haslingler and that is a positive. Just completed test lather and I am looking forward to removing 6 days worth of stubble from my face. I could trim the edges and go for the beard, but no, I like shaving too much. With the Van Dyke I am already sporting, I have sacrificed too much acreage already. The test lather was slick, really slick. The scent is very pleasant. It reminds me of 4711 Eau de Cologne. Anybody else get that? Lemon high note, grassy mid-note. It's definitely my taste in scents. Maybe I'll go to bed early so I can wake up early and shave early...not. It's good to be back. Have a great evening!
Thanks everyone! I'm really happy with how the razor cleaned up and looks. It's great to be able to use a razor that last touched my grandpa's face over 30 years ago. @Redfisher - I'll send you a PM with a link to a video for straight razor 101 that @Billyfergie shared with me.
I'm sure it smells good but I hope that you can get a good lather and a decent shave. It's got to be a PITA to try and focus on your art when you feel less than complete maybe even if I dare " scruffy ". I have high hopes for tomorrow's shave and that you are refreshed and revitalized for the rest of your tour!
