Now it is just my 400ml of Razorock Mr. Pink aftershave and Van Yulay Petals De Rose soap that I ordered this morning. My wife wondered why I had no rose scented soaps anymore and I had this on my radar. It was like she was just asking me to order it...lol
I knew it!! I sooo knew you were going to buy it. As soon as I saw it. And then when you posted the other day your top end price for a razor.. Lol
It will eventually be worth more than what I paid for it. That's my only consolation right now. Well that, and when I offered to withdraw my snipe when I saw the price start heading north, my fiancée told me to get it anyways.
I just Pressed the Buy it Now on this NOS H. Eicker & sohne Solingen 9/16th SR..I got it for a Song an All..It wasn't sitting that Long..These are purported to have an Extra thin Edge..I like Bigger blades but I thought this just looked so Cute.. Billy..
Completed a trade with a fellow Shave Den member. This will be headed my way shortly, a 1934-1939 Gillette Aristocrat: It's not quite a cherry as it looks in that photograph, so it will be sent out soon for a rhodium replate. What's the best way to get a hold of Chris at Razorplate? Just send it off?
Congrats!! It looks great . I take it razorplate is the preferred vendor here. I never hear anyone sending their stuff to razor emporium.
I've met Matt in person, and he's a great guy. Razor Emporium does quite a bit of business around here, as does Reliable Electroplating. I don't think Chris's plating skills are any better than those other two options, but his communication with the customer is top notch. He lays out all the flaws in the razor, and lists your options. That is why I want to go with Razorplate.
The difference between Razor Emporium and Razorplate is $1. I would imagine Reliable Electroplating would be in that same ballpark.
Waiting for an ATT Atlas R1 with an additional H1 baseplate. I'm on a quest for a really good stainless steel razor. The Barbaros TR is beautiful but too mild for me. I'm looking forward to seeing this one and hopefully the blade exposure will be ideal.
Original plating, according to the listing, so it would be nickel. "...THE HEAD AND HANDLE ARE BRIGHT AND SHINY, THE HANDLE IS SHOWING SOME WEAR There are some small age scratches on the head that is too small to show in the pictures..." It was in the seller's collection for four years. My guess would be that he found one in even better shape to replace it. It will be arriving soon, probably within the hour, so if the sun's a shining, I'll get a pic or two of it with it's golden brother.
Here's the promised pic: Sunlight wasn't cooperating, as usual. Turns out the unusual shine came from being buffed to a fare thee well. Didn't strip any plating, thank goodness, but I prefer to hand polish my razors.
Hello everyone, congratulations to Ryan, and everyone else on the wonderful acquisitions. Here's my recent score from eBay. https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/262385731633 I have really cut back on buying anything, but have been doing some trades lately. This ABC set was so reasonable I couldn't pass it up. I watched it since it came out, and I think because it was so tarnished it didn't generate much interest. So I put in a lowball bid, and BINGO! It's not been shipped yet, but within 4 days it will be. I'm doing the happy dance now! Another $60 ABC set! Have a great night!
