im currently in the process of restoring my 2nd and 3rd lucite brushes and I'm trying to figure out the best method to paint the letters. I'm using Testors model paint for the inside (red in one, blue in the other). I was able to recolor my first one successfully, but I didn't paint the letters.

I've tried the "rub it on, polish the surface" that I've done on other restores, but the letters seem like they aren't that deep and all the paint rubs out of them. Any other tips?

Without those deep grooves, it's tough to bring back those letters.

I know the red is a fuller...what brand is the blue?

Ever-ready 500N (knot was nylon, horrible to remove. Ruined 2 of my Dremel grinder bits)

Question: Does the epoxy have any problems adhering to the Testers paint, when setting the knots?

I actually mix the paint into the epoxy and put a coat down for the main color before setting the knot (what is pictured above), and then I use the same mix (epoxy+paint) to set the knot to make sure the color sticks.

Excellent. I was thinking the same thing, if it wouldn't stick.
    Btw, beautiful handles.

What a great job you're doing. I can't wait to see them finished. They look terrific so far.

Use a very fine paintbrush to paint each letter, and use the very corner of a tissue or possibly a q-tip dampened in paint thinner to wipe away any bits that get outside the lines.

On the recommendation of another restorer, I tried Rub n Buff, silver leaf it actually works REALLY well! The only places that didn't take it in well was on the 5 and the second 0 on the ever-ready definitely recommended! image.jpeg
