Tonight had another shave with the Rolls. I gave it 30 laps on a strop outside of the system. Shaved wit guard removed.
Tonight I concentrated on trying to get the skin stretched better. I did better on my cheeks for sure. Did a bit better on my jaws and neck.
No blood at all finished with. Very nice shave with no irritation.

I like this as I need to really focus.

This is the Original Brit Made Ever Ready 1909..This one belongs to my brother..The 1924 was the so called New Improved Model that didn't have a Stropping Handle..My Brother reckons the 1909 is a far Smoother Shaver..These are Rare..:)

    Today's shave: Monday April 18

Mongoose Alumigoose v2 w/CBW custom red cedar handle
    Feather Pro Super (10)
Chiseled Face Groomatorium Cryogen pre-shave gel
    Maggard Razors synthetic brush
    Stirling Electric Sheep soap
    Pinaud Citrus Musk aftershave/cologne

I picked up this handle made by a local artisan at the San Diego ShaveCon Saturday. It's made of red cedar with a heavy resin coating making it impervious to water. It weighs in at half the weight of the standard Alumigoose 2 handle, bring the total weight down to 1.25 oz, about the same as an injector razor. The metal collar has a gunmetal gray finish which goes nicely with the black alumigoose.

Not surprisingly it is very agile and nimble, shaving much like an injector - a very wide injector. Despite the smooth finish I did not find the handle to be slippery at all. I do rub my fingers on an alum block now and then while shaving.

The Feather Pro Super blade is still going strong at shave #10 and I enjoyed an extremely close comfortable shave.

I tried the second straight from my grandpa today. I actually used all three of the razors I inherited from him. The edge on the Nielsen's seemed overly tuggy so I wanted to compare it to the other one and used each for one side of my face - mostly above the jawline. They were both pulling but the Gebruder Ziegler was a little smoother. Both have been shipped off to be re-honed. :char039: I'm also getting a Rolls Razor and a Heljestrand blade honed so you can guess what will be in the line up in the near future.

    GEM SS PTFE (1)
    AOS Lavender After Shave Balm

Schick G8 - the last of the series. The handle is a forerunner of what came out with the I Type - squared off with ribs. Nice razor. The grip works really well. :happy036:

My karma has kicked into high gear. Right in the middle of my month of shaving with my new Schick F, I've had two new razors pretty much fall into my lap from fellow TSDenizens. Yesterday I shaved with a Schick Adjustable, today a Personna Floating Head!

    Hot Shower
    Razor: Personna Floating Head Injector
    Blade: Personna *74 (1)
Soap: Cattie's Bubbles Mile High Menthol
Brush: Rooney 3/3 - Super Silvertip
    TSD Witch Hazel
    Old Spice

This razor was one of the last injector razors that I've had my eyes on and it finally found me as a PIF from my original shaving mentor, sensei and Grand Poobah of the 30Day Thread :smiley respect: @Bama Samurai

    Two-pass shave - WTG, ATG
Beautifully easy shave was certainly worth the wait! The first pass felt as though the head was operating like a vacuum cleaner and with none of the typical injector 'velcro' sound, yet produced a fine first pass reduction. The ATG pass sounded more typical, but the blade cut like buttah resulting in a dolphin-smooth shave.

The whole time I felt as though I was cheating! This was much too easy.

It was really cool using the original razor/blade combo exactly as it was released by the manufacturer.
Imagine a list price of $2.29 with a cash refund of $1.50?!!

    Thanks soooo much Chris! :happy088:
(btw - I'll attempt to cash in on the "$1.50 Cash Refund" and promise to send it to you!) :happy036:

    Cheers!

I think it's great that you have that connection Karl. I also was the recipient of my grandfathers' straights. He was actually a barber in Little Italy NYC in the 1930s - 60s. So perhaps they were the ones he used at work. Wish I didn't have hand tremors, so I could use them. But it's pretty neat to have that connection. Enjoy the journey! :happy088:

btw - I've never been on the "straight razor" thread, but right now there's a hand full of shavers on the 30 Day Thread learning to use straights. They're all a helpful lot.
