Wow - you hit the jackpot - congratulations.:happy036: The Schick Adjustable would have been a major good karma lift on it's own. And now a Personna Floating Head complete in the original packaging. Is that magazine of Personna 74s loaded? If so, congrats again. They are certainly fabled blades. However, I have to note that, like the Schick Adjustable, twin blades in these are like heaven. :angelic007: You have a lot of good shaves to look forward to. :happy088:

[IMG][IMG][IMG] Two Pass Shaving Pass Routine..

    CV. Heljestrand Lather Catcher
Heljestrand Hollow Ground Blade (Freshly Honed)
    Kent BK2 Pure badger
    Haslinger Tallow Shaving Soap
    LOGONA Mann Aftershave

I just had a shave today with my CV. Heljestrand with a Freshly Honed Hollow Ground Blade..This is the (PSA) Sticky back Aluminium Oxide Lapping Film I am using here..12 Micron to Set the Bevel, 5 Micron, 3 Micron & 0.5 Micron for a Final Polish..The 0.5 Micron Needs to be cushioned so I just kept the sticky on & Sealed it flat with water & it worked a Treat..:)

Just like the Rolls Blade the work is in Setting the Bevel..I had Rounded the edge of this blade in my early days of using the Magnus Auto Strop with too much Zeist..Auto Strops are Fine but they require a very light Touch..People that were using these back in the Day would have been used to Stropping Lightly with a Stropping Handle & would have understood a Light touch..I wouldn't recommend an Auto strop to anybody that isn't Proficient at using a stropping handle..Auto Strops are not a Magic Wand..A Great Tool for someone whom is already proficient at Stropping in the usual manner..:p

One WTG Pass & One ATG Pass & Dolphin Smooth..This Freshly Honed Blade has a Keen Edge but more Importantly it is very Smooth & Comfortable..As Smooth as Icing on a Cake..I Need to get some 15 Micron as its a bit of work with the 12 Micron to set the Bevel..The 12 Micron does the Job though..:angelic007:

Lapping Film is a Good way to Go for anybody Learning to Hone without a lot of outlay..Its easy to use as long as its Flat..I am tending to use a wider cut now because if I have trapped anything underneath I can still find a clear line..The Sticky back stuff is not Ideal for that reason but its the easiest to get in the UK..Lapping Film in the USA is far Cheaper & Easier to get..;)

Smashing Shave today with the CV. Heljestrand..This is One Almighty Shaving Tool..Its Worth 100 Hundred SE razors and Maybe then Some..This Blade is going to a Friend in the USA @Karl G along with a Streamline Set that he bought in the UK..I hope I have done a Good enough Job on the Blade for Karl to Experience the Wonders of a Hollow Ground Blade that is properly Honed & Sharpened..:D

    Today's shave! 4-19-16
    [IMG]
Razor: E3 Injector w/ personna blade
    Brush: JR 13
Everything Else: easily noticed in photo lol
Had a very close shave today. The only negative was nicking a couple pimples (something I do far too often with any SE razor)
The personna blades are very sharp, but to me not as smooth as a Chinese Schick blade (YMMV)
Think I'll finish this whole week with this razor, but will probably go for a Chick blade for comfort. Have a great day and good shaves to you all!

Nice photo, Connor, with the exception of the snow:) Those injectors don't like riding over any imperfections in your skin; they just tend to "level" everything  I have a scar on my neck that tends to grab hold of my injectors. Maybe, one of these days, it'll just get shaved off:D

Setting the bevel on 12 micron film can indeed be tedious, especially if the blade is in rough shape and/or there are several blades to be honed.

To remedy that I've invested in a set of DMT's. These "stones" are actually slabs of nickel plated steel coated with diamond abrasive. I have coarse, fine and extra fine, which correspond roughly to 45, 25 and 9 micron film, although it's not the same. I only use the coarse DMT for removing nicks and chips. After about 50 laps each on the fine and extra fine DMT's the bevel is about 90% set and I can move on to the 12 micron film.

Billy will this method of honing work for straights also . It sounds like something to try . Thanks for the great information.

I started my shave today with my Rolls. I had to stop on the second pass. I think I dulled the blade last night stropping with red paste. Then stropping on leather. It started tugging. Its ok as i finished up my last 2 passes with my bunny V-2 and feather blade.
    DFS to BBS.

I get to go back and hone the Rolls again. Practice makes perfect

They run around USD $55 or so each for the 8" x 3" size. The 6"x2" size is considerably cheaper and would probably work, but I like having plenty of room - the marble slab I use with the lapping film is 12"x4".

The thing I like about the DMT's over the waterstones is that the DMT's do not require flattening. In fact, a coarse DMT can be used to flatten a waterstone.

A month with my Schick Type F

    Hot Shower
    Razor: Schick F
    Blade: Feather AC Pro (1)
    Soap: Saponificio Varesino - Manna
    Brush: Rubberset 400-4
    TSD Witch Hazel
    AS: Saponificio Varesino - Manna

    04-20-16.JPG

    36-hour growth, Two-pass shave - XTG, ATG
After my brief interlude to have an initial shave with two new acquisitions (Schick Adjustable, Personna Floating Head), I’m back to finish off my month-long focus on the F.

I’ve had nothing but fine shaves so far with three different blades:
    Chinese Schick - good
    Schick Plus Platinum - better
    Dutch Schick - best

With such good results I was tempted to end the blade comparison. But I then remembered a nifty Injector-Jedi trick from Master @Billyfergie - :yodacut down the length of a Feather AC blade to fit an injector.

I’ve used this blade in a Mongoose before so I knew what to expect - sharp, sharp, sharp. Loading wasn’t a breeze, but after one razor stroke I actually looked to see if the blade had slid into the back of the blade spring because I couldn’t feel anything. Then I looked closely at my face and saw significant reduction.

The experience repeated on every stroke of every pass - including the trouble spots - a first for me! I was able to shave in any direction on my chin, mouth corners and even a sliver of my upper lip where I trim the mustache!

    Phenomenal! :chores016:

All that’s left, is to see how long the shave lasts and to repeat the process for 3-4 more shaves. If so, this blade will leap to the front of the line for 1st choice in this razor.

    Cheers!
