Trip Report I found this http://www.lightertime.co.kr online when I was looking for some pipe cleaners etc. I saw all the pipes they have listed for sale but didn't believe them, I thought if buy it they will just order it from the US and then send it to me. Also I could not find another pipe store in Seoul. I am like Marvin Gaye, I wanna know what is goin' on. It is just 20 minutes away from office so I hoped the car and .... I was shocked, it was much better than expected. About 75% of the shop is dedicated to pipes. There are at least 100 pipes on display and for sale, covering all levels of quality and price. I took a couple pics but I did not take pics of everything. To support my local, and our only pipe shop I made some purchases. I picked up a Stanwell Night & Day for USD$93 and some Gowries Hal O' The Wynd recommend by the proprietor. The tobacco was expensive....
All the flooding was north of Sugar Land, it actually wasn't too bad here, but it was a lot worse only 10 miles north. The kids were happy the schools closed for two days, and the state issued a dispensation so that they don't have to make the days up. I was afraid they would have to go on Memeorial day (which they have done before). There is still flooding at reservoirs, creeks and bayous but it hasn't had much effect on me.
I am in Old Katy and our area got hit pretty hard, kids are out of school all week. But I count my blessing my house came out pretty much with no issues.
Lane 1-Q in a Nording Sandblast this evening. One thing I really enjoy about pipes is how relaxing they are. Even if you start stressed, it forces you to relax and slow down.
Half and half in my sanded down 9mm midi pipe. I had a balsa filter in it. While I puffed I built a 2m ham radio antenna.
I received my forever stem today, and decided to try it out on a "neked" Pride from a grab bag I had laying around. I had a bowl of Smokers Pride Mellow, followed by Lane 1-Q and a couple of bowls of Davidoff English mixture. Following are a few personal observations. 1- the stem is black rose, which actually looks better in direct light. It's a 3" stem and a good size for a bent, but I think I should have selected a bit shorter for a straight. 2 - the Forever stem is much better than the standard stems for the unfiltered smokers. It's better than the Freehand stem by far. If you smoke a lot of unfiltered cobs, I recommend it, 3 - I don't like the "neked" cobs, I find the touch a little too prickly. Of course, YMMV, 4.- The Davidoff English Blend is a tobacco everyone should try. Burley, VA, Latakia and Perique but the Latakia is very light and doesn't dominate.
