I have a Gold Dollar 208 & its a Great Shaver..I have seen a couple of Forums doing the Elitist Stuff..Be careful what you buy cause some from the Box are just Scrap to be Honest..Get a Shave Ready one from a Reputable Vendor..All that said..They Don't handle as Well as a Vintage SR..A Vintage SR is far more Balanced & even the Stainless ones are far Lighter & more manoeuvrable..But Hey there is Nothing wrong with a Gold Dollar.. Billy..
i bought it mainly to practise honing on.i do have a couple of swedish nos razors that is very good shavers, but i think it would be stupid to start on them without having a clue of what i am doing.but would be fun to get it to shave

I am Learning to Hone myself..The Dollar is very Hard Carbon Steel & may not be the Ideal Razor to learn on..The Whole blade sometimes needs worked on from Top to Bottom from the Box..There will be more Folks experienced than me on this though.. Billy..
I also bought some cheap straights to learn to hone with instead of my 'nice' razors. I recently ordered a customized Gold Dollar and waiting for it's arrival.

Today was my first shave with the AW Wadsworth-Boss razor that arrived this week. I paired it up with some Proraso red in the mug, Semogue boar brush and Shop Rite menthol aftershave. I did two passes and got a great shave. I really like the feel and weight of this razor. I'm now beginning to get the hang of ATG and XTG passes. I still have much to learn, but my shaves and my speed have gotten so much better and I'm loving SR razors!
