That's the problem with thinking. It rarely improves things, at least when it comes to shaving. Been there and had similar experiences. Those long philosophical chats in your head with a sharp object in your hand.....never a good idea.
I can barely walk and chew gum at the same time so I am not sure why I thought it was safe to shave and think.
I've been trying face lathering recently as well. I've found that If you make your face dropping wet and splay out your brush on your face while moving in vigorous circles each pass, it works. On the first pass I do slightly dip the tops of the bristles in my cold water. That process helps me get a great leather out of my Stirling soaps. Sent from my ASUS ZenFone 2E using Tapatalk Edit: lather. I don't think I can shave with leather unless it's English leather AS
04/22/2016 Cobra Classic Feather Pro (8) Simpson CH2 Synthetic Mystic Water Lavender Witch Hazel Fine Platinum Whipped Shea Butter Happy Friday everyone. By spending most of each week concentrating on two soaps, I can see that I am starting to make a dent in both MW Lavender and Tiki Cabernet Neroli. The CH2 synthetic whipped up the MW Lavender into a wonderful lather with very little effort. I love the scent of this soap and the performance of the soap is top notch. I have decided to stick with the Feather Pro blade and see how many more days I can get out of the blade. Staying with my usual 2 pass shave and touch ups, provided the expected near BBS. Finished with a splash of Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.
SOTD April 22, 2016 Russian blades focus Prep: Warm shower Blade: Voshkod (2) Razor: Maggard MR1 handle with V2 open comb Brush: Semogue 1520 boar Lather: Soap Commander Endurance Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Fine American Blend, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Pretty nice shave again this morning with Soap Commander Endurance. Today I used the Semogue 1520 boar for the second time. I sure like that brush! Thanks again to @PickledNorthern! The Semogue starts off seemingly stiff but becomes nice and soft after a soak while showering. It has worked really well in face lathering. My sample of Endurance soap is coming to its end. I may have one more shave out of it. I'm going to reevaluate the amount tonight and may just toss the remainder. Then it will be on to something else in the den that needs to be finished off. The Voshkod blade behaved better today than yesterday.......but I don't think it's a favorite of mine. I know that may be blasphemous on here! There are many other blades that have worked better and been smoother for me. But that's why we try them and why we have the YMMV codicile. Nevertheless, a pretty good shave to end the work week. I hope everyone has a great Friday!
SOTD April 22, 2016 Prep: Hot Shower. Noxzema Razor: Mongoose B3 Dr. Bomber Handle Blade: Feather Professional Lather: Soap Smooth Jasmine Tea Brush: Custom Ever-Ready 100T w/Shave Revolution Synthetic 22mm knot by Clint @theFAT98 Post: Thayers Rose Petal WH. Gold Bond Ultimate Aftershave: B&M Cologne Russe Fantastic shave. I really enjoy using the Mongoose, it's so efficient. 3-pass shave and call it a day. Jasmine Tea is absolutely wonderful! Loving my ER100T great brush. What defines us is how well we rise after falling.
The brush is the Marvy "923 Retail Brush" which, unlike the rest of their brushes, is not made by Omega. I've been trying to break one in as a possible travel brush. The small knot seems to create challenges to both soap loading and water retention. The jury is definitely out on longevity as mine went on a shedding spree yesterday. If you Google for the Marvy soap, you find a lot of threads over on B&B where people have had great difficulty with this soap. My initial experience was similar to a bad Williams one, but followed some advice from here and bloomed the puck. This seems to help a lot. @DDuckyMark should be getting his puck today and I am curious as to his experiences as well.
Well gents my posting will be a bit limited for awhile. Got up this morning and turned on my computer and watched it go up in smoke. Literally. So unless I can get some time on my wife's laptop I'm limited to Tapatalk. Shave this morning did determine what I needed to know. The Ladas from the new tuck was awesome. Two passes and touch up to near BBS. That's some good news as it proves I just had a tuck of duds. I'll take any good news I can get. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk

Need a computer PIF? Seriously, some of us have more computers than razors and I could probably come up with a Core2Duo-class laptop for somebody in a pinch.
I wouldn't say no. Lol. I used to have a couple of reserves but as they died horrible deaths I didn't replace them. Bought the wife a new one last year as she's in school. Figured mine would last forever. Oops. Lol. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Okay, let me check this weekend. I'm pretty sure I've got a spare Dell Latitude D830 that I pulled off the recycle pile when we were moving offices. Nothing overwhelming, but is should get online nicely.
Razor: Gillette Gold Tech 1940's Blade: Derby Extra (6) Brush: Jayaruh JR #45 Walnut Honey Comb Handle Soap: Turkish Private Study A/S: Myrsol Aqua Balsamica This brush and soap work well together, actually I haven't found a soap that this brush doesn't work well with. I'm also getting good shaves with the Derby Extra. DFS today.
Bit of a change today. NDC gold ball end tech Derby (1) Peerless Gen 1 Synthetic Arko The Veg I did 2 passes to finish with a high grade DFS and no AS burn. The Derby isn't quite sharp enough but riding the cap and stretching the skin helps me get a pretty good shave anyway. I had to take short strokes since it wanted to stop during long strokes. The Peerless brush used to be my only brush. I decided that it looked lonely and needed to be brought out. I regreted that decision. It has no backbone, holds about a gallon of water and dumps most of it as soon as it touches your face. I used to lather Williams with this brush but today it struggled with an Arko stick. I may just use this brush for talc from now on.
