OK so, I have a story. I skipped my shave this morning so I could do something fun with hit this afternoon. While at work at about 7:30am I was slicing onions when the knife slipped off the onion and into my left ring finger. The tip 1/4 inch of finger was half sliced off. I filled out all the accident paperwork taped it up, finger cot and back to work. Well everytime I get it wet at all it bleeds like mad again so when I got home my fun was shortened some. CJB Feather Super Pro (?6, 7, 8?) VdH boar William Marvy Shave Soap Nivia sensitive cooling Aftershave Balm I decided to try this terrible soap and see what was so bad about it. I had planned on a test lather with each brush in my stable but not being able to get my left hand wet put a damper on that. I decided to use the VdH. As you can see in the following pictures, the Marvy shave soap was the same size and shape as the Williams Mug. It was smaller and thinner than the VdH soap. The scent is something everyone has smelled before. Remember that pink goopy soap that used to be used in school bathrooms and public hospital areas? That's what it smells like. I filled the deeper of the 2 dished sides with hot water and let it sit for several minutes. I loaded up for about 15 sec and made large clouds of fluffy airy lather that was bubbly and useless. I kept at it until it stared looking usable. I shaved 2 passes and had the soap for 2 more loaded in the brush. My blade was nt very sharp so I'm blaming the rough shave on that. The Marvy soap will get more use in MAYhem. I ended up with a SAS, a raw spot on the left corner of my mouth and a few weapers. I'll change blade and finish out the month on a different soap then get into the Marvy again.
SOTD April 23, 2016 Barrister and Mann Bay Rum Simpson M-7 BBS-1 Triad Feather HS #2 Witch Hazel, Mystic Water Whipped Shea Butter, Barrister and Mann Bay Rum Kyovu It's been a while since I've used B&M Bay rum. Great Bay Rum scent, easy lathering with the M-7. First pass XGT/WTG, second AGT/XGT with little to clean up. BBS-1 gave me a clean, incredibly close, comfortable, yet efficient shave today. The Shea butter and Kyovu felt cool and soothing. Ready for action. Have a stupendous Saturday everyone.
It is possible to shave with leather. You just have to rub it vigorously across our face until you rub/burn the beard smooth. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Straights Focus April 23: VDH Boar Brush Chiseled Face Sherlock Wm Elliot Stirling Unscented PSB Fine Fresh Vetiver It was a quick shave this morning as we were packing for a trip this morning. Nice and smooth, with DFS results. I hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start. Have a great evening.
Another brief update. Still working in figuring out Tapatalk to use it to full potential. Brush today was the BoS Omega 10066 and Ladas the blade. Another great shave. Two pass with touch-up and it ended BBS. I'll take it. The Ladas is performing exactly like I expected after finding the bad tuck and getting rid of it. I'll post up my ranking of the Moscow Russians later. Still debating just a bit. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Keith, that razor looks great. Is it really a Gold Dollar? I looked up the web page and may mention them to the wife as a father's day idea.
So I am a ways behind on the thread, but I am still around! Took about a week off from straights to let the cuts heal. Used my Goodwill and Heavy Tech while traveling for my new job. Worked over 60 hours last week. Got BBS every time, but managed to get daily weapers in what are normally the sports that are DFS plus with a straight. Mainly the hollows right under the corner of my jaw. Of a weeper or a DFS, I'll pick a DFS. It is a major pain to get blood out of the collar of a white shirt when you are in a hotel. Using Route 66 Black Pearl sample with a travel omega boar brush, and Rapita Sweedish Supersteel blades. A little M-bombed Clubman rounded out the travel kit. I will get a picture of it on my next trip in May.
Tonight's shave: Razor: Case Brothers with Wenge scales Strop: Drygulch Chromexcel Horse/ Linen Brush: 28mm Ubersoft 2 with aluminum handle Soap: Barrister & Mann Seville Post: Cold Water, alum, witch hazel Aftershave: Fine La'Orange Noir Almost done with this soap. The ring broke up while I was lathering, so I am guessing one shave left. Good lather with the soap eating monster synthetic. This razor is a joy to use. Two pass, on small nick, but BBS everywhere except under the corners of my jaw. Some irritation, but not bad.
Ouch! I'm glad I don't have the skills to be a chef, it's too dangerous. I hope you heal quickly and have better shaves.
Fluffy airy lather. Not what we want. Well, for shaving anyway. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
I'm finding it's able to do most if not all of the site. Just takes more time and effort to format. At least I have the Note 4 so it's a bigger screen to work on. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
