    Saturday SOTD - 4/23/16

    Razor - Blackbird w/Nacet (2)
    Brush - Semogue 830
    Soap - Stirling Iced Pineapple
    AS - Stirling Orange Chill

Got my Semogue off of the shelf tonight. I realized he had been neglected of late. What an awesome brush! A killer shave every time, and I just love how utterly disheveled it looks when I am done. Like roadkill, only it smells nice.

    Tabacstag!
I'm getting better with this brush and bowl lathering. I soaked the brush while I brushed my teeth and started in on a dry soap. I think I need to load even more. I stopped loading too soon for the first pass, and needed to reload for the rest. Tabac is a perfect soap to learn with since it has a wide water tolerance. I think I might use a hybrid bowl/face lathering technique at some point. The shave was easy and comfortable, as usual with Tabac.

Mastro Livi Symmetrical Kamisori, 11/16 Full Hollow, French Point

In this rainy day, I opted for this Mastro Livi symmetrical kamisori made from Damasteel Odin's Eye pattern. I also opted for "somewhat warm" fragrances, such as Meißner Tremonia Indian Flavour Shaving Soap and the Italian "Pino Silvestre" (Wild Pine Tree) after shave. As for the kamisori, it was just amazing how it gave a super smooth and close shave, a little aggressive, but this is something common to every Damasteel blade. The symmetrical kamisori gives the easeness of using both sides of the blade, even by using just one hand. Certainly easier to use than an asymmetrical kamisori, however delivering an impeccable result.
    • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
    • Soap: Meißner Tremonia Indian Flavour
    • Brush: Mastro Livi Wild Badger, Juniper Handle, 24mm knot
    • Bowl: Bamboo Bowl
    • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
    • Razor: Mastro Livi Odin's Eye Damasteel Symmetrical Kamisori, 11/16 Full Hollow, French Point
    • Post-Shave: Alum Block
    • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
    • After Shave: Pino Silvestre

    Wednesday 4/24/16 shave:

Prep: Hot shower, Nivea Face Wash
    Brush: Jayaruh #33 Horsehair
    Lather: RazoRock For Chicago croap
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Treet Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (1, 2, 3 )
Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma alum, Thayer's WH pad, Pinaud Clubman AS splash

Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron

The Treet Platinum loaded into the RAKE today is the last of my blade sampler package from Tryablade. I find them to be good, but not great, blades, and therefore a useful yardstick against which to gauge other blades. Lathered up with the horsehair and - in a show of support for the drubbing the Cubs took yesterday - the 'For Chicago' croap; I think the difference in backbone between this brush and the others I use may account for the difficulty I have in getting consistent lather. The lather was protective enough, regardless, as 3 passes left me with DFS results and only some mild alum sting under the chin.
