Who hoo! Caught up on the thread. I didn't realize how much time I have been wasting at work. Some highlights: Happy Birthday @PLAla! Hot things and hands are bad. @Mr. Freeze93 assaulted some guy at his church with a bottle of the Veg, after dude's wife encouraged him. The Cartel boys are having a heck of a time getting to St. Louie. @NCoxSTL is asking for our help to hurt him next month. (I'm in.) @Rufus T is becoming an injector master. @ob1page is becoming a menthol addict. Have some BBQ masters in the house. I need to fire mine up.
Once again you nailed the synopsis. College has Cliffs Notes. We have @Drygulch's Notes. We rock. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Razor: Gillette Red Tip Blade: Derby Extra (1) Brush: WDC-6 TGN Silvertip Soap: TSD Iced Bay Rum A/S: TSD Iced Bay Rum With the Bunny V3 coming this week I broke away from my Tech focus and used my Red Tip. What a beauty razor. This was a for sure BBS.
Superglue has been my friend today to keep the tip of my finger all the way attached. As soon as I finish my pipe I'll be loading a fresh blade in my painstick and shaving. I'm unsure of what soap I'll use today.
Its just the tip 1/4 inch that's cut and only about a 1/4 inch deep. I've been to the hospital when I did this before and they just smear antiseptic on and bandage it. Then charge me $600. I can do the same thing at home for less than $10. If it has any complications I'll let them deal with it. It sounds worse than it is. It bleeds at a glance and hurt a good bit today but I managed to work all day and I'm typing with it now. It has a tendency to hang on everything and pull back open which is why I superglued it. I've got a few medical certifications so I can at least tell when I can't deal with it anymore. I would love to have kept working in the medical field but cooking pays better in my area.
I have it soaking to see if my Williams treatment makes it work better. I'll give it a shot in a day or 2 after it soaks up as much water as it can.
Cut glove in the mail. Burns will always happen but I'm making an effort to keep it below second degree burns from now on. I tagged the back of my arm while I was cleaning out a fryer today but it hardly left a mark.
SOTD April 24, 2016 Shave Den Sunday Prep: Warm shower Blade: GEM Blue Star Razor: GEM Featherweight Brush: Maple handle badger Lather: TSD Bay Rum lanolin soap Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD Iced Bay Rum after shave, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, XTG, XTG Break in focus away from Russian blades so I could use my GEM razor. What an enjoyable, interesting, and pleasant shaving experience. This is only my second use of this razor. It came courtesy of @DDuckyMark through the Nationwide Tour Box. The auditory feedback is fantastic. This razor is fun to shave with! No nicks, weepers, or irritation. I had 2+ days of growth and had plenty of time today so therefore went with more passes than usual. I should have done a little touch-up on my neck, but that's okay. I'll get it tomorrow. Pretty darn smooth shave. The TSD products are outstanding as usual. The ice water rinses felt nice and refreshing. I also spent much more time than normal during face lathering which yielded an amazing, thick, rich lather for the first pass. All in all a really nice shave on a beautiful day. I hope everyone is doing well!
I cook for a grocery store deli. I'm afraid of catching something from all the chicken we cook. I go through 7 50lb boxes during my shift every day and 2 more than that on Sunday. Superglue>dirt
Monday April 25th Next up on the chopping block is Gillette Slim. I have not used this razor in a long time because it was too mild for me. I could not get a close shave with it. Loaded it up with a Super Iridium blade and did my normal 4 passes. Much better than I remember. First it was smooth, no irritation and the alum gave just a light tickle. Fell just short of BBS. This is a tough one to call. I will give it another shot but I will load it with a Feather blade. Definitely staying: Genco Easy Aces SR, hard to let go of cool looking, great shaving piece of vintage American steel just because it is smaller than I like. It is also my only vintage American SR. Ever Ready Lather Catcher Leaning toward staying: Wade and Butcher will stay in the SR stable until a much nicer specimen can be sourced. Ever Ready Lather Catcher GEM Junior Released after further use: JR 5/8 round point. I will use this razor to improve my honing skills. Leaning toward releasing: Jerry Stark 5/8 SR. Looks great, shaves great just to small a blade. I would prefer to sell this and trade up for a larger blade Will be released: Sight unseen Whipped Dog SR. This shaves great but I want to PIF it to someone who wants to get started with SR. (PIFed) Merkur Vision - despite major coolness she can't compete with an aggressive Futur. (Sold) BBS-1 - Give my move to the dark side it is just not aggressive enough to remain in my DE stable. (sold) Fatip Piccolo (sold) Mongoose Merkur 37C slant (sold) GEM Micromatic Open Comb - or in short MMOC (silver coloured) GEM Micromatic Open Comb - or in short MMOC (in gold)
Sometimes there are words that really have no direct translation. I have tried to find a Korean word for "redneck" but have not found a good match. I think "redneck" is uniquely American and really hard to put into the context of another language or culture. I guess you could say that redneck is more uniquely American than apple pie.
Arko April!!! Shave Den Sunday Edition Derby day 10, near bbs... Blades and product available at: www.theshavedenshop.com Have a great Sunday night!
Tried a Bali Blade today in the Gillette New LC... YMMV but I now have an idea what it feels like to have to wear a live raccoon as a face mask. Switched out the piece of... uh bali blade and threw in a 3 day old Voskhod and it was smooth sailing after that. If anyone wants 4 bali blades let me know and let me know if you like them. My conscious will not allow me to send these to another person unless I know they like them as I wouldn't wish these blades on my worst enemy.
CJB Kamisori Nope Dorco Barber's Blade(1) VdH boar Proraso White Nivea Sensitive Cooling ASB I loaded up a fresh blade in my painstick. I had worked my way thru the Kai and the Feather progressions. I have missed the Kai Captain Sharp blade but they seem hard to find so Ill work on that. I was up to the Canadian Kamisori blade. Lovely Lather from the Proraso and the Vdh brush is just beginning to break in. First pass with the Kamisori was horrible. I would rather pull out my tiger 3H and scarpe away with it. I finished the pass N/S ending with hardly any missing stubble and a face that way red and angry looking. I pulled the blade and Loaded in a Dorco BB. Much better for the 2nd pass. I felt it just gliding along mowing down hair with ease. However the damage was done and my skin hurt. I slathered on the Nivea and cleaned up. Now I didn't expect the Kamisori to be amazing but I did expect more than I got out of it. Like the other blades I decided to eyeball the edge with a loupe after the first shave. No wonder it was rough feeling. The blade was the most unevenly ground, pitted, rough, serrated piece of crap I have ever seen on a razor. I pulled out my Tiger 3H and the blade on it is pristene in comparison. I have seen box cutter blades with better ground edges, Heck I have a butter knife downstairs that might shave better. From now on I'll be looking at the blade under magnification before I shave with it. I'll give the Kamisori one more chance when I start blade testing with the Sam Seong razor just in case this one was a dud. My Fiancee says I did good on my shave when she feels it but since I fell a mild burn all over I can't rate it as high as it feels by facetubation. Fail in my book.
