Another BBS with this razor blade combination. That is 2 in a row.

 

I am calling it a day. For once, all the work is done on a Monday by noon! Bonus goof off day!

 

I am also having a great run on Derby! Matched with the correct razor, it's a super smooth shave!

 

You are correct @Bama Samurai. I had been using the Derby Extra with my Tech's this month and the shaves where pretty good. As soon as I put the Derby in my Red Tip the shave was BBS.

 

I'm going to be experimenting with the loupe and my camera phone to try getting some good close ups. I'll have to go back in my posts a few months to see how many shaves I have on each blade. I'm hoping that the Dorco will finish up about when I need it to so I can do the Arko April shave with Derby and the Veg for the last day of the month. Then I have a mixed tuck of horrid blades to pair up with equally or worse soaps for MAYhem Hurt Hinge edition.

Another excellent two pass, near BBS shave with the One Blade SE. The Frostbite soap lathers into a creamy, cold slickness. The second pass colder than the first. This GEM blade is cruising smoothly, shave #5 as smooth as shave #1. Finished today's shave with an icy splash of the Frostbite Aftershave. Hope you are all off to a great week. April 26 Fool's Pass

Todays weapon was my Rasurpur Western grind SR. Four passes and again the Fool's Pass was accomplished without blood. Alum gave just a tickle and BBS.

Feeling in the mood for monster from the 80's I pulled out the holy hand grenade, a vintage bottle of Kouros. I think @Robyflexx share the love for 80's powerhouses so splashed away show @Robyflexx can enjoy it to. It should last the rest of the week.

This was probably the strangest shave since I started my DE journey. Three passes and I'm BBS however there was almost no feedback from this razor. I started on 1 for the WTG pass, switched to 2 for the XTG and 1 stroke in I switched to 3, still no feedback however my whiskers were just disappearing. Stayed with 3 for the ATG, no feeling of any kind but I'm smooth as can be. I'm going to have to play around with this razor some more.

 

Nice photo Ben! How odd not to have feedback from a close shaving razor. The sounds of silence can be maddening.

 

In honor of Arko April my shaves for the rest of the week through Saturday will be with Arko!

Saturday I plan to use Arko, Derby, and the Veg. Everyone still in on that plan for Saturday?

 

I've been on the Arko and Veg all month but I'll add the Derby on Saturday. I'm in.

First day back to work and what a crap show...


I needed a nice relaxing shave when I got home as today was a slow moving train crash the whole shift. Walk in to help for the dinner rush and what not and nothing is done. We have barely any prep done and everyone is goofing off. Fast forward to after I go borderline postal on the kitchen and we are in the middle of service and front of house had a new waitress on who kept going outside for cigarette breaks every 5 minutes so food was going cold which means we have to redo tables over again. I normally keep my nose out of front of house's business and what not but when I call for service and your gabbing outside smoking a butt, talking on your cellphone, and letting food die in the window I grow very irritated and am no longer my usual peachy self. Long story short is she had a easy first and last shift.


Sorry for the rant guys... It did feel good to be back to work though...


Anyhow it's menthol Monday so I figured to freeze my face off.

Zoned out on my ATG pass and got a pretty good cut on the jaw.

 

Now you're making me miss the restaurant days. I once removed the entire morning wait staff in order to put my night shift servers on. I never again had a problem with the day crew. I only fired two of them that morning though. Don't know why I had such control.

I also fired one of my cooks on the spot for being an idiot. When he challenged me that I couldn't do that because I didn't have another cook to replace him on shift I put on an apron and told him how mistaken he was. I always did like the chance to cook. Lol. Glad you survived it. You'll get them whipped back in shape in no time.

Thanks Rob! It wasn't just the silence, I felt absolutely nothing. It was both good and bad. Good because I felt nothing. Bad because I didn't know if I was removing anything but lather. This razor has a thick head so it was also not the easiest to maneuver, especially on the upper lip. I'm definitely going to spend more time with it though as it got the job done

 

I asked the Boss not to let the kitchen know when I was coming back because if they were slacking off I wanted to catch it myself and see who is responsible. They quickly got there butts in gear when I came in and looked down the line. I've never seen so many people start looking busy and turn off there phones/put them away so quickly. My sous chef got the brunt of most of my wrath as he is second in command. They got the picture that I wasn't messing around when I had him to his chef coat off throw on an apron and be my cleaning lady and doing dishes half the service. The new girl had me almost going crazy as she did two of my biggest pet peeves... She would put the slip in and I would start calling off the order to the line and while I am reading it she would cut me off and say "Is it done yet?"..... yes genius it is done even though you just handed me the slip and I am reading it off. So 1 strike against her (Cutting me off while I am trying to read the order) and she decides what the hell he looks like he's ready to drop kick me.... let me tick him off even more. So she leans on the pass and just stands there.......staring.... and trying to have a conversation "so how long have you been cooking?" now don't get me wrong...I am a nice guy and I love people... but don't talk to me in the middle of service unless you are one of my cooks or I ask you something as I either wont acknowledge you or I will go off... I know reading back I sound like a you know what but that's the nature of the beast... The wife has seen me at work and she says it is like I am a completely different person...I am sure you know firsthand how this is..

 

Oh yes. I think my wife used to be very happy she was my wife and not on my crew. Lol. Nothing like the food biz.

That is odd, maybe it is the setting? I use my future on 6 and it is very loud. Still congrats on a great shave.
