I don't know what to say about the lack of feedback, but when it feels as if you're wiping away lather, yet getting BBS...you are on to something good!

Maybe that's it, I've never felt this feeling before so it's foreign to me but maybe that's good. Every razor I've ever tried in my life has given some sort of feedback. If it wasn't for the cut hairs in the sink I would have never known it was doing anything.

One thing I like about this razor is it forces you to use the correct angle. If you're to shallow the blade cannot touch your face. Also the weight really helps. It deserves more time for sure.

I'm using it again tomorrow and bumping up the setting. I'm going to keep going until I reach the top or find the sweet spot. Then it's comparison time between it and the R41 so I'm ready come MAYhem

It's been really neat to watch you catch on so fast! Techniques trump tools (good and bad) and angle is everything! :happy088:

The Derby sees Day 12 tomorrow, looking at setting a new longevity mark Wednesday. My focus has been on holding low blade angles, forcing the bevel to slice rather than scrape, and it's helping this blade last! Massive supercell thunderstorms on the prairie tonight! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Tuesday!

Today's shave was a mixed bag. Going with the usual 2 pass and touch ups provided the my normal near BBS. Unfortunately, I did manage to nick myself. Clearly my fault but it put a damper on the otherwise great shave. Finished off with a splash of Fine L'Orange. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium
Razor: Maggard MR1 handle with V2 open comb
    Brush: Semogue 1520 boar
    Lather: Arko
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Decent shave this morning; not the best. I started off with the best Arko lather I've ever had. I face lathered into a rich, thick, beautiful lather. It was good for the first pass. But when I lathered again on my jaw and neck for some touch-up and began to shave the razor bounced around on my face. There was no glide or slickness whatsoever. That was quite strange and disconcerting. I plan to Arko it the rest of this week to finish out April so I'll experiment and hopefully not repeat that experience. Perhaps I needed a little additional water on the tips for that second lather?

Otherwise the Polsilver blade was smooth and sharp again. The Semogue brush starts off stiff but softens quite nicely with a soak while showering. It's a really good brush for me.

In any event, I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

It always amazes me when I use my travel set. I used one of my favorite blades today and got a two pass BBS. My EJ DE89 was my first DE razor and still gives great shaves.

Post - Witch Hazel, The Veg

We are approaching the end of Arko April and I left it on the shelf today. Tabac was calling my name and feeling neglected. The lather was awesome and I have missed that scent. I switched to the Sputnik from St. Pete's for the next couple of days. This is similar to the Voskhod. Teflon coating and sharpness compare well.

Two passes and touch up scored a near BBS with one weeper on my neck. It's close to a Voskhod, but it isn't a Voskhod. Still a very nice shave.

Hey @Bama Samurai be on the lookout....the crew sent the pic below this morning. Lock your doors and windows....and put guards on your vodka.

Oh, so now I know why there's a serious lack of headroom in this chat room all of a sudden!!! :happy068:
All of his hats will now have to be refitted as well.
and don’t forget all the little people on your way up Sir.
(It’s people like them that made it possible for guys like us to rise above the masses.) :shocked003:

Seriously, it’s a huge honor and not one for the faint-hearted. But your level of commitment, expertise and responsibility is clear enough for all to see that you were made for such a critical position. Thanks for being who you are Chris! I wouldn't have learned most of the things I have in my time here if not for you. The success of this thread in particular is due to your many fine attributes.

A month with my Schick Type F

My year-long goal is to get through all my injectors beginning with a march through the Schick alphabet. I’ve done the Schick C, D, Es, and F. I still have G through N to go! My three weeks with the F were very successful so I’m using this last week to assess the Type G.

    Razor:1946-55 NOS G4 Schick 66 Navy (Shave 2)

    Two-pass shave - XTG, ATG

First shave with a ‘Chick’ blade in the Schick ’66’ G4 yesterday was so good that I was tempted to do a single pass today. But trying out a new blade today I chose to do two passes.

Some times when I use this blade right after a Chick I can feel a noticeable upgrade in smoothness. Today there wasn’t that that much of a difference in smoothness nor in the quality of the shave. Great shave that will probably leave me tomorrow wondering two passes or one!

Perhaps I’ll change it up again tomorrow and use the Mod FergieFeather?!

    Cheers!
    RT

btw - if you haven’t noticed I’m running through a few different Route 66 soaps this week. I may provide a brief review come the end of the week.

    (Spoiler alert: I’m enjoying them!)
