April 28 Fool's Pass I have an important meeting today so I want to make sure I have a great shave. Usually I go with my 2011 R41 when I absolutely, positively need an awesome shave. But I have been felling cocky with my straights lately. So last night I stropped my top SR, a Portland Razor Co western grind kamisori and loaded my 2011 R41 with an new Super Iridium. This morning I was feeling it so, Yo! I went with the PRC straight. I just nailed this shave, four passes and the Fool's Pass with no blood and whiskers left in sight. A's across the board. Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A Sharpness A I recommend PRC to my friend up north but apparently he is not happy with the wait time. "Check the mail again, there is no way they would make me wait." Do I have to explain again what a straight razor looks like?"
Wednesday Shower/Shave Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Peppermint bar soap Pso- Homemade grapefruit PSO Brush- RazoRock Plissoft Razor- Merkur Futur Blade- Gillette Silver Blue (3) Soap- Catie's Bubbles Mile High Menthol with M-Bomb Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO AS- Nivea Sensitive with grapefruit EO and M-Bomb This razor is so polarizing,I love the results, BBS with 2 passes and minor touch up. I don't really like the feel of it though. I think I'm going to put it back on the shelf for a while and go back to the R41, I just enjoy using it more. Catie's Bubbles lathers so easily and I love the protection it gives and the post shave feel, it just needs more menthol. M-Bomb to the rescue. Have a great day folks!
Arko April in Russia April 27 Short and sweet. Another day with the Sputnik blade, Tabac and the WW brush. Great near BBS. I'm not going to fight this tablet or Tapatalk for a full review. Laptop arrives tomorrow so I'll catch up tomorrow night.
I sincerely appreciate every single Marine and Soldier who's ever been on that line. I don't mean to ever make light of the seriousness of the Korean War and the 53year armed standoff that remains to this day. Very brave men in a tough spot, preventing horrible tragedy.
I think setting down the Futur will allow you to appreciate it later! M Bomb- gateway drug to being a freeze-head...
As Bill Clinton said 'The scariest place on earth.' Not sure if I got the quote right but if you can go there you can feel the tension.
My first boss after college was in an Army rifle company on the SKorea DMZ in the eighties, and he told terrifying tales of walking the wire. He referred to his company as a "speed bump" on the way to Seoul. The fortified positions and such he describes are amazing in their scale and lethality.
I think you are right...about both items. I like the outcome of the shave just not the shave itself. I will try it again after MAYhem. About M-Bomb. "My name is Ben and I am a freeze-head. M-Bomb was my first try of menthol and now I want more."
Is this menthol thing getting unruly? Have you become powerless over menthol? Incapable of managing your shaving affairs? Meeting is at eight, Come early, Stay late....
Arko April!!! @Robyflexx Record Addition Cold water... You know it! That's a day 13 Derby. Robert inspired this exercise, and it's forced me into having to really focus on blade, to maximize comfort and blade life. Should you use Derby? Maybe, maybe not. It ain't GSB... But it works. And @Robyflexx... If you're running low on Derby, I'll have a couple left... Russian blades and Cold water for life... Have a nice evening!
