    Today's shave - Saturday April 30, 2016

    J. A. Henckels Rapide razor
Henckels Twinworks wedge blade (5th shave since honing)
    Plisson synthetic brush
Art of Shaving Sandalwood soap (old style tallow based)
    Captain's Choice Sandalwood aftershave
    Crabtree & Evelyn EdT

These razors demand respect. I got a little overzealous in my pursuit of a BBS shave and paid for it with a bit of irritation - the aftershave really had a bite!

However, I did get the BBS shave - a small price to pay. :happy088:

Can anyone verify if this is an E? I think it's a 2?

It's the E2 variant with circles rather than the usual "omega" pattern.

I have that same razor in that same color. It's an awesome shaver! Efficient, maneuverable and fun. :)

A much better shave with the Nordic Beauty this morning. :happy088:

After some consultation with @Billyfergie it became clear that I was keeping the angle too shallow, too flat to the face. And, I was probably adding too much pressure to get it to cut at a nearly flat angle. I wouldn't say today's shave was like skaters on ice, but it was way better than the last two. Whisker reduction was just within the range of acceptable on the first two passes but really good by the third. In fact, after some wet touch ups I finished with a mostly BBS. More practice is needed but I'm now feeling good about the road ahead. :happy036:

:happy096:That's Great News Karl..It took Me a Few Shaves with a Hollow Ground Blade to get used to the Different Sorta Shaving Style with them..A Close BBS on you're 2nd or 3rs Shave is Wunderbar as they would say In Germany..:happy088:

    Schick Hydro-Magic.JPG
I just switched over from cartridge to SE shaving (Schick injector to be precise) and thought I would share my experience, especially for others looking to switch. I will try and keep it brief. Thanks to all you out there who have given your preferences and experience.

I had been using the Gillette Sensor for over 20 years and found it gave me a close shave with no irritation or other problems. I would have to do numerous short passes though. My beard is fairly thick and tough and although my skin isn’t sensitive I can easily cut. I just wanted to move to a more basic shaving experience.

The first razor I tried was the I2 Hydro-magic and it has turned out to be my go to razor so far. 2 passes and a touch-up as required and a smooth, efficient shave. It works intuitively with me. Since then I have tried the G6 (didn’t seem to shave closely). E3 (a bit rough), L6 EasyRider (okay but too mild). I will try others, especially the C1, early E2, F and M adjustable but I hate giving up my I2 shave. I realize the G and E problems might be related to blade and/or technique/angle but the bottom line is the I2 worked “right out of the box”.

I am using Chinese Schick blades and haven’t yet upgraded my shaving cream in order to keep the comparison with the Sensor simple.

Oh, and I have gone a bit crazy collecting the Schicks :bounce017:

The Schick E2 is sweet, but if you can, try a Schick N1 injector with Schick Twin Blades.

Nice review and background. Whatever works for you. I find it fun trying other razors. You do not know what you might be missing. So I say try them all

Yeah..The I 2 or Hydromagic is a more of an Efficient Shaver out of the Later Models with a Single Blade..If you look at the Head it has a Steeper Angle of Attack & this Seems to make the Difference..Blades are a Big Deal with Injectors as the Folks around here will No Doubt Testify..Twin Blades Don't Fit this Model but they Transform all the other later Models..The G Type can be Juiced Up with a Personna/Pella Blade & a Cut Down Feather Pro Blade is Rocket Fuel..I use a Cut Down Feather Pro in my Type E as Well..:)

    They are Big Gun Blades..:bang:

They shave pretty well with any Blade..I Personally reckon that the Personna/Pella Single blade Fits these Well..Thats just me Talkin though..Some Folks like the Chinese Schick Blades in them..One thing is for Sure though.,After you get a Flavour for it & would Highly Recommend Twin Blades at some Point..:)

:signs011: It's one of the top shaves you'll get from a Schick in my opinion. Like a different razor altogether.

IMG_20160501_142730.jpg IMG_20160501_142659.jpg IMG_20160501_142630.jpg Just scored this beauty yesterday. A Valet Auto Strop razor that appears to be in unused condition. It still has the cardboard dummy blade in it. Along with the instructions in the box along and the strop. I got the razor in the box for $15.00 and a box lot of blades for $10.00 including all the Valet blades shown plus an assortment of DE blades. I think I'll try it tomorrow.
