Nice, complete review RR! Many excellent points throughout. Looking forward to more. Sweet set-up as well.
Part Deux. The Notso shave. Started today's shave post shower with softened 2.5 day growth. Wanted to rest my face and have a decent amount whisker length to tackle. Mix of dual soap/cream mix of Ingram and Nivea sensitive. Used the Notso comb and the second use of the Chick blade. From the get go this was a more comfortable shave. The blade seemed sharper, the hairs were softer and my grip was no longer an issue. The razor no longer felt slippery or as awkward to hold as my first venture. Felt comfortable to proceed with a full 4 pass ATG, 2x WTG and one XTG. Once again rinsing was easy albeit often as with all SE razors (no flip). End up with a few minor weepers due to my typical over exuberance at my sensitive neck area. Otherwise "shiny happy people" Cold water splash followed by Thayers and beurre de karité made me feeling Très doux and apparently speaking French Obervartions: *Like the current package setup but was thinking this should come with extra screw. In case of a rinse over sink with slippery fingers. *Much better experience with softened beard and Notso comb so far. *Wondered if slight bent handle would make shaving under lip easier. *Managed to use under nose without any comb and still have upper lip. *Initial concerns over screw getting in the way are no longer as screw is smaller and far from cutting edge or any face contact area to be of any issue. Finding shave angle is easy once you use the force.2 I mean sound. Close shave without lingering face burn is a great sign.
I have visualized that screw going down the drain. Argh! I liked the WILD with a Personna blade. I don't rinse with running water. I fill the sink half way and just swish the razor in the sink. I just saw the video about the Patented rinse system. It works with running water. I wish I had known about that. When I changed combs, I always had soap buildup behind it. The running water probably would have cleaned that out. I am glad you got a chance to use The Bunny. Nice brush BTW.
Bunny on the wild side. Having success with post shower shaves I decided to run with what works best. Applied a fresh smelling Erasmic soap I loaded up the wild comb and proceeded with a WTG initial pass. Blade felt as sharp as a new one and better than the first time I used it. Was a little apprehensive at first considering I was rolling on the wild side. Quickly gained confidence with every stroke. Felt the added aggression but nothing unwieldy. Mild chin nic on the first pass after applying to much pressure on the bend. Proceeded with 2x ATG and finished with XTG. Overall wild felt "shavable". The only difference was post shave. Face felt a little heat vs Notso but quickly quenched with a cold water splash and some Thayers. Observations Close shave but would not say closer than the Notso comb (with less heat) Razor head is thicker than other injectors but far thinner than Gems or DE. Easy rinsing, easiest of any any injector I've used. BBS and happy with results.
I've been continuing to shave with the B3. Observations: *The very first shave with either comb is really the inaugural shave with the razor and difficult to make a true assessment regardless of the any comb used. New razor regardless of comb or blade requires an adjustment first before any other variable can be added. * The B3 with the right comb delivers a dolphin shave without aggravation, weepers or nics. * I believe the open comb has advantages beyond leaving behind some lubrication. The safety bar beyond providing a set gap stretches the skin and raises the facial hairs. I feel the an OC also varies the whisker to blade cut angle allowing for a closer shave. (Theory but I'm running with it) * Without sounding like a @twhite fanboy I find an OC injector is long overdue (75+ years since last if not mistaken) and the B3 to be well thought out, engineered and made. Minor changes as Tom has noted will make this a must have as part of the razor rotation or even for those who just prefer one razor. I will be sending out the razor this Friday 22nd it's been a fun and interesting run being part of the test group. Thanks
*UPDATE* The Canadian Bunny pass around will look like this: Me Roderick (Grand Praire AB) Celestino (Vancouver BC) targa88 (Calgary AB) Red Rider (Mississauga ON) Douglas Carey (Carelton Place ON) Jean-Marie Zeitouni (QC) Spud (PEI) The Canadian Bunny will be on the move again with Douglas Carey next up. Thanks everyone for keeping the Bunny moving along smoothly.
The Bunny V3 arrived today. when I opened the well packed product I thought it looked pretty cool. Then I remembered that I don't believe I had ever shaved with a Schick type razor or blade. I found that loading the new blade was very easy, and with just a little wiggle it slipped in just fine. The razor felt very good in my hand and I felt that the balance was well suited to the Bunny V3. I found it was very easy to find the correct angle of attack after only a few strokes. I used the already attached "Notso", and I will use it again then change to the "Mild". I was very happy with my first shave with the Bunny V3. I did find that it rinsed better under running water than just swishing it around in the sink. Right out of the box I got a DFS. Comb right.
Razor: Bunny V3 Blade: Schick Injector (3) Brush: "Tres Amigos" Desert Ironwood w/Envy White Soap: Captain's Sandalwood A/S: Captain's Choice Sandalwood Getting great shaves with the Bunny V3. I've used the "Notso" comb for two shaves, now I using the "Mild". Using the "Notso" comb I don't believe I would need to shave every day. Only had one small weeper with that comb which was user error.
Today I started with the Mild comb, but quickly changed back to the Notso comb. For me personally it is a better fit. One thing I will point out is how easy it is to see what you are doing in tight spots and when you are going ATG. The shape of the head make it very easy to see what you are doing with the razor reversed in your hand. To me that far out weighs any reason to put a slight bend in the handle and/or head. It's just a matter of getting the right comb fit. IMO.
I agree with you on that, it's one of the reasons I enjoy the repeating razors. Very similar technique.
