I was a bit disappointed in that I expected a much closer shave. I have some hair shaper blades to try in it next.
Oh, its very even. Its just a mile wide. The head lines up a blade the same way as an Old Type with two guide posts and the center screw. The posts are narrow so the blade has a lot of play until its tightened down. The blade is bent pretty far when its tight, a stiffer blade might break. I like it. The picture I posted I think has a blade loaded so you should see the wide gap. It makes all my other razors feel mild.
Day 2 of MAYhem.... Long somewhat stressful day of work... Had about 4 call outs from the kitchen so me and my buddy pretty much had to kill a dinner service by ourselves.. We managed to pull through and there seemed to be less issues then normal when we have a full staff in the kitchen.. Also as a bonus... He was going on about how expensive razors are (He's a head shaver like me but he has been using a Mach 3) and asked if I knew a cheaper route. After dinner service and during clean up I gave him the whole speech about wet shaving and much to my surprise he was interested... outside of this forum when I talk about shaving I normally get the weird looks and have to outrun the crazy doctors coming at me with sedatives and a nice cozy straight jacket for me. I gave him the TSD website address and he is going to make an account. I am putting him together a kit tonight to give him at work tomorrow (Gillette Tech, Omega Boar Brush, IB Amici Shaving Soap, A puck of MWF, A puck of Tabac, and some aftershave, alum, styptic and witch hazel. Glad that I saved another person from the misery he was afflicted with. On to today's bloodbath... CJB Pain Stick/Feather Pro (2) RR 24mm Finest Badger Stirling Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo Maggard Alum Block Thayers Medicated Superhazel Fine Snakebite Went with a frigid setup today in the hopes that I wouldn't feel the pain as I sliced my epidermis off. Did 2 passes tonight (WTG and XTG)... I'd rate this shave a DFS but I reopened a few cuts from last night as well as earned a new one on my jaw. A lot better then last night but any time I see blood during a shave it is a loss in my eyes. The alum stung not as bad as last night but enough for the wife to see my facial expression and start making fun of me. The Thayers was a sweet relief and cleared up the irritation quite well. Threw on some Fine Snakebite and got a good burn for about 5 seconds and then my face went numb from the menthol. For the next two days I will be switch over from the Pain Stick to my Old Type loaded with a Bali which in my eyes is the equivalent of lighting yourself on fire and then trying to put it out with gasoline. Stay tuned as I continue to massacre my face.
Hey that's awesome about your buddy and NICE kit you are putting together for him. Send him our way when he gets here.....unless you think we'll scare him off. In that case we'll hide. Glad to know the pain stick was a bit nicer. Going to the Baili though.....you will soon appreciate the pain of the stick even more.
I will most certainly send him this way. He's quite nervous but I have faith in him. Knowing him I will have to set up his account as he is not that tech savvy. It took him about 4 weeks to finally get an email set up. I think he will like the stuff I am giving him. Everyone needs a puck of the Fat and Tabac. Also given him a bottle of the Veg. I am honestly more scared of the Old Type and Bali and really dreading tomorrow's shave... at least it will be Taco Tuesday at the hospital tomorrow if I get admitted before dinner time..
Menthol + Straight unguarded blades = blood and pain. The blade lets you know in advance a few milliseconds before it bites. menthol kills that feeling. I bleed when I mentholate and straight tshave with any flavor of straight. Slow steady even strokes are the way to go. let yourself feel the edge. When its right you will know it. Its like wiping off the lather.
The Baili Blue is what I used today. Ride the cap and don't use pressure. Most people don't have bullet proof whiskers like I do. You might be fine. The old type works really well riding the cap. I got my first BBS on an Old type. My fiance stole it for her shaving needs. I haven't been able to use it in months.
It's disturbing that you know the menu so well at the hospital. And I agree with the Fat and Tabac. AND the Veg. Long may it reign!
Mine is missing a tooth but after MAYhem if your interested I will give it to you. I don't care for it. I'll sanitize it as it has earned the nickname Dracula. Just let me know.
Sunday Shower/Shave Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Peppermint bar soap Pso- Homemade grapefruit PSO Brush- RazoRock Plissoft Razor- Muhle R41 on a Maggard MR5 handle Blade- Ladas Soap- Catie's Bubbles Mile High Menthol Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO AS- Florida Water with M-Bomb First shave for MAYday. It definitely isn't as crazy as some but I'm working through a bunch of blades this month looking for a challenger to the mighty GSB. Ladas is most certainly a contender. Very smooth shave, 3 passes and I'm BBS. Riding the cap allowed for very little irritation tonight. I'll be using this blade again tomorrow and switching Tuesday. Great shave tonight, I really like this blade. I'm continuing my face stretching for this month with a focus on riding the cap. Have a great day folks!
Tell him to try a later model Schick Injector. Mild easy, almost like a halfway razor for people switching from Carts. My Schick is so easy I don't use it as much because the challenge is gone.
I've spent enough time up there that I even know when certain Doctors are working. Between my 3 kids being born there and my dangerous antics the hospital is basically my home away from home. As long as I am discharged before Noon on Wednesday I will be happy... there egg salad sandwiches tastes like a fried boot.
I sure am. I had 2 and one was missing teeth. I never noticed it shaving any differently. I PIFed it before SWMBO decided she liked it so well.
They made 2 different top cap designs for them. I don't know the difference but yours might be different then mine were. My fiance loves it. She won't use any other razor unless its my Super Speed.
I'm going to try to focus on my SE skills this month. Had a really tough last couple of weeks, that's why I fell off the grid, but I'm ready for every day shaves with my SE. I'll trade off every day between my 1912 and my PAL adjustable. Sent from my ASUS ZenFone 2E using Tapatalk
