Did a three pass shave today with the 1912 and it was fantastic! The PAL has greatly improved my technique and I had a completely great shave. It mowed down about 5 days worth of growth without trouble. No irritation what so ever. Now I see why I love this razor so much :)

Going back to the Mongoose after a 2 month break, the first sensation was of weight. Compared to the AlumiGoose and Cobra Classic the SS Goose initially felt much heavier than I recalled. Loaded with a fresh Feather Super Pro blade, I went with the normal XTG and ATG shave. With very few touch ups I came so very close to catching the baby but in the end a super close near BBS. I did end up with one nick but a very comfortable shave. Finished up with a splash of Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
    Brush: Semogue 1520 boar
    Lather: Proraso Green shaving soap
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD SubZero after shave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

I'll be focusing on SE razors this month with the majority of shaves on this G1. Fantastic razor! This was a nice shave with a tiny bit of chill. Proraso always lathers up easily and provides good protection. The Semogue boar brush is a great face latherer once you soak the bristles.

One big pass and touch-ups around the jaw and neck. I'm ready for Monday! Hope you all have a great day!

As promised, my travel kit. Grabbed my first vintage DE for this trip, a Red Tip. Soap is a Route 66 The Black Pearl sample in a small tin cup. Brush is an omega Boar travel brush that works great. Thayers' and M-bombed clubman round out the kit.

Has anyone else noticed your facial hair and for us head shavers your hair is growing fast due to spring? I shaved my face/head Saturday afternoon and I look like I need a shave really bad.
    Just my observation..

Very cool bringing a friend into wet shaving! Nice gear you're setting him up with.

I just noticed the same thing.... Spring really interferes with the cue ball look I am going for... on the plus side it means I get to shave more...and shaving more means I use more product.... using more product means I get low/run out of stuff faster...and that means I get to buy more stuff without SWMBO throwing a fit... so YAY SPRING!!!!

    Razor: Aristocrat Adjustable
    Blade: Gillette Platinum Plus (3)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Marvy

This was pretty much a repeat of yesterday's shave. This time, though, I tried bowl lathering the Marvy rather than face lathering. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to make much difference as the lather still hit the precipice where thick and dry changed to copious but airy with quick dissipation. Again, it was not frothy, just more like dish suds.

I was reading a thread over on B&B about an artisan soap which also had lather issues. The artisan apparently replied to the original poster to the effect that the soap had been tried and approved by several barbers. This led one responder to comment as to how he had watched a number of barbering videos on YouTube and had come to the conclusion that barbers have a different idea of what constitutes a good lather than we in the Wet Shaving community. I don't know enough to agree or disagree, but will admit that it would explain the problem I'm having with the Marvy soap.

I'm going to try and muddle through the week with Marvy before switching over to Williams next week. I'm a bit lost as to what changes to try tomorrow, though. I'm thinking about pulling out the Dove cream and go the Superlather route, although I am concerned that it is cheating.

I'm really curious to read @DDuckyMark's experiences with this soap later in the month.

I've noticed that a bit. After what appears to me as a normal, routine shave, I find that I had to work harder on my right side than my left.

I have noticed that for facial hair. Also, I have noticed that I am having to go in for a hair cut more often now as well. You would think it would work the opposite.

I've noticed a big difference in the past week, when I grew out my hair I'd get a haircut every month.
Two of my sons and wife and daughter (for eyebrows) go to the salon/haircut place as I did, every single time the lady says "where's your daddy)? She would really do a great job and I'd tip her accordingly. :)

It's really strange how ones hair grows different on side of the face/head. That's why mapping out your beard is so critical. Thanks, Paul :)

Interesting John, I agree that when I watch YouTube shaving videos a wet shaver has a much better lather than a barber or actor in a sales pitch for a shaving item. Could you name the artisan? Or pm me?

I may need to shave my head everyday?? I like the idea that you buy when you run low, I only wish I had that type of control.. :) :)

This morning was my third straight shave in a row. A new record for me. It was relatively uneventful if you ignore the scar that I lopped the top off of.
I did one WTG and one XTG pass for a CCS. I'm going to wait a while before doing ATG.

That what I do in the spring and summer. Shave the noggin each day. Oh I don't only buy when I run low...it's only when I buy because I am running low that I don't get chewed out by SWMBO.. :duel:
