I don't have another menthol soap yet to compare it too however I have added M-Bomb to other soaps before. If you add 4 drops to a bowl and then use any non-menthol soap it is similar to Mile High. I hope that helps.

    Hello Ya'll,

I would like to join you all this month. Please let me know if this is too broad of a focus. This month I really want to focus on "riding the top cap" and learning how to achieve the same quality 3 pass BBS that I do with my G1 injector with a DE. As it is I get a good shave with a DE but it doesn't even come close to the shave I get with the Injector, At least not without additional passes and cleanup. In this focus I will put my blade trial on hold and stick with a proven blade, the Astra SP. I will continue to rotate my soap selection as normal, and I will rotate razors once I feel I have mastered that particular razor and have achieved a shave with that razor that is on par with the shaves that I get out of my G1.

That sounds like a fantastic idea for a focus.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like a technique focus to me, it's basically what I am doing also. My plan is to only change razors, and leave soap, brush and blade the same all month after today. The goal is to maximize each one by finding the best angle of attack for each razor.

Nobody really keeps score around here, have fun with your focus!

    One-pass shave - ATG
My shave yesterday was excellent and set me up with minimal today. Razor handles very well, great reduction on each pass, dolphin-smooth finish. I'm enjoying my extended look at injectors month after month this year.

    Cheers!

    May Focus Day 1:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Arko
    Schick Adjustable
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Clubman VI Bay Rum

Not sure what to call this focus, today was the first shave of the month for me. As I was running late yesterday evening, I did not get a pic taken. I also realized I left my Dopp kit at my parents house, so I had to reassemble something yesterday. Luckily, I have no shortage of Schick Injectors, so I grabbed the adjustable and some Arko for this morning's shave. Two quick passes, and I was out of the locker room sporting a nice DFS. I did dial the setting to 2, which seemed pretty comfortable.

Tomorrow, I look forward to a straight shave, which will be my first in a week or so. Have a great Monday.

Gillette Old Type Head (MR3?) Handle/Bali Green (1)
Razorock 24mm Finest 2 Band Badger
    B&M Seville
    Maggard Alum Block
    Thayers Medicated SuperHazel
    Clubman Pinaud Aftershave

Early Evening Shave and technically my 2nd shave today. Shaved at Midnight before bed but it was a pretty rubbish shave so I had plenty of stubble to work with. Loaded up Dracula (Old Type) with the rusty can lid (Bali Green) and prepared for the misery that will surely commence as soon as I press this torture device up against my skin. I did 1 pass with touch ups as I really didn't feel like ruining the money maker (my face.....stop laughing I am beautiful) too badly today. I have a DFS but my face looks like raw hamburger. The Bali Blade does what it normally does to my face. It doesn't cut the hair it kind of throws a bag over the tip of it and rips it out by force and it just chews my skin up. The alum burned red hot and I broke out my Thayers Medicated superhazel ( My "Oh @#$& you really messed your face up" holy grail) and most of the irritation is gone and it closed up a cut I got. Finished off with Pinaud Clubman. 1 more day with Dracula and the rusty can lid and then it is back to the Pain Stick for a few days... I came to this decision after todays shave. I will butcher myself for 30 days but come May 31st (My birthday) I am breaking out the good stuff and getting a good shave. Until then... only 28 more bloody days to get through...

Had to change injector blade today. The Mild comb s to mild for me. The Wild comb is to aggressive for me. The Notso is just right for me. :)

Not really in my experience. They kind of what they are right out of the box. That one was set in with silicon so you should be able to pop it out and adjust the loft with an additional quarter if you need to.

It works great. I'll keep it in the new handle. Thanks for talking me into the Sunrise knot. :)

I set that one at the same loft of 2 of mine. Synthetics are just different, not bad but they do feel different when I use them.

    MAYhem 2016

    May 2

    Razor - Gillette New LC
    Blade - shark-super-chrome.jpg (1)
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Soap - Proraso Green Tub
Post - Cold Rinse, Alum, Nivea

Let the games officially begin for me. After celebrating most glorious holiday yesterday it's time to get down to some real MAYhem. As announced, I'm using 15 blades, 15 razors, 6 soaps and 7 brushes, all randomized daily and the picks being made by volunteers who want to see me have the finest shaves of my life. Or bleed profusely, whichever. Today's shave is courtesy of @ob1page and it started the month off on a decentn ote. The razor, brush and soap are all top of the line but the blade came up, well, unknown. I think I've used one Shark before. Way back when I started and I don't judge any blade from my earliest memories from back before I knew how to shave. You know, pre-30DC days.

So, lather was excellent, the razor has always been a favorite. More aggressive than most, not as aggressive as the Old Type. First pass seemed pretty good. The blade provided feedback, probably due to the razor, and all seemed well. Not as smooth as I'm used to but not horrible by any means. But, then, as I went to rinse and lather again I saw the weeper on my right neck. Hmmmmm. Blood on that pass was a bit of a surprise. Well, onward we go to the second pass. XTG. And, there's a nick under my chin on my neck. Seems this blade has a rough spot or two. Went for the third pass ATG and finished without further blood but only DFS, and not a great one. But more than acceptable.

For a MAYhem shave you'd have to call it a raging success. Only two bloody marks and a DFS.....I shouldn't complain. But I'm hoping this blade doesn't come up again this month, if only because it aggravates me to have a blade feel like it's pretty good and then show it's weakness so quickly.

Tomorrow.....my destiny has been set by @DDuckyMark. A bit more challenging. The razor will be the Ball End Tech. Mild but ok. The soap, Arko. Nothing wrong with that. The brush? The VDH Boar. Ok, I use it on y head shave, it works. The blade? The Baili Green. OUCH!

And, since that's set it's time to call out the mighty @Bama Samurai to pick for Wednesday. 1-15 for blade, 1-15 for razor, 1-6 for soap, 1-6 for brush.
