Awesome. I was wondering what the number was but hadn't done the math. 30 out of 8100. Not bad odds that I can avoid the worst possible shaves. Not perfect odds though and all it takes is one Wildcard pick to line up a potential meeting with the Tiger.
Menthol Monday Shower/Shave Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Peppermint bar soap Pso- Homemade grapefruit PSO with M-Bomb Brush- RazoRock Plissoft Razor- Muhle R41 on a Maggard MR5 handle Blade- Ladas (2) Soap- Catie's Bubbles Mile High Menthol with M-Bomb Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO with M-Bomb AS- Florida Water with M-Bomb I have a dilemma, I used so much menthol tonight my face was frozen...It felt great! My dilemma is that I was so numb I didn't feel the blade bite until it was too late. By far the worst cut of my wet shaving career. It's on my upper lip,I finally got it to stop bleeding after creating an alum paste. I think I sadly need to back down the menthol just a bit. Everything else worked great. I really like the Ladas blade, I think it will be in the final running for sure. Have a great day folks!
I'm sorry about the cut Ben, but i'm happy about the colors in your photo and that the Ladas work so well for you. They are a top blade for me.
In a show of solidarity I will join @NCoxSTL in a Tiger shave if he draws one this month. I will put it in my angry Russian razor instead of an Old Type. My safe shave for that setup will be GSB in a Superspeed.
Sorry about the cut buddy... hey at least chicks dig scars. The R41 can be a bloodthirsty razor. Hopefully you fed it's hunger and it wont snack on your face again.
Agreed. I've got a very early morning, so I don't think there will be a shave tomorrow. I'm hoping that I can find a bottle of glycerin (or maybe Castor Oil) later in the day and try that with the Marvy soap as I really want to save using with a cream as a last resort. The alternative is that I try the "Hail Mary" of using my Chinese Pure Badger brush instead of the VdH Boar and see if that makes a difference.
SOTD 5/02/16 Razor: Blackbird w/Voskhod (1) Brush: Nathan Clark EnvyWhite Soap: Chiseled Face Summer Storm A.S.: Chiseled Face Summer Storm At the risk of being stood up against a wall and shot, I have to say that I have only ever had three bad shaves from my Blackbird, and all three have come from Voskhod. I was a pretty big fan for a while, but have just decided that while they are smooth, they are also kind of tuggy in the razors I tend to use. Thank God my wife likes them, so the few hundred I bought might get used a tenth of the way up by the time her wispy grey hair just starts to fall out of her waxy skinned legs. It takes courage to say something like that around here knowing your probably fate. However, the problem lies not with the Voskhod but with the "razors I tend to use." Clearly the fault is yours! Choose different razors! Actually that's a great example of YMMV that we throw around in shaving discussions. Different razors, different skin types, different everything can change the way a blade performs not only between different people but sometimes even for the same person. Feathers, for me, can do that. Put it in an aggressive razor and it it incredibly painful and awful. In a mild choice it gives a great shave. We'll keep the firing squad in the barracks for the moment.
Well if it helps, my three favorite blades are Nacet, Polsilver SI and GSB, followed somewhat closely by Astra SP. That loyalty to St. Petersburgh may not be enough for a full blown pardon, but surely worthy of a temporary stay. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Today, it's a cut. By next week, it will become wisdom. The way of the frigid is fraught with peril on all sides...
