May 4, 2016 It’s Hydro-Magic May! I’ll spend the month with my three Schick Eversharp razors that sport the Hydro-Magic shaving/cleansing head - Types I2, J3, K1 Hot Shower Razor: 1958-1964 Schick Eversharp Type J3 "Golden 500" Blade: Schick (China) (2) Soap: Route 66 - Sea & Citrus Brush: Ever-Ready 1CS Badger TSD Witch Hazel AS: Myrsol Limon Great shave yesterday left me with a one-pass today! One-pass shave - ATG Same smooth comfortable shave as yesterday. BBS Chasers - With a close one-pass shave I get jonesing for a BBS. So I use a tip I saw about a month ago and I think on this thread…(damned that I can’t remember the shavers’ name. sorry.) Once finished with passes, do a cold water final rinse and splash with witch hazel and even aftershave if you wish. Your touch-up and BBS chase will be more efficient and productive. Difficulties caused by haphazard whisker direction on my neck and tough spots on jawline are much easier to buff away with this method. Cheers! RT
I decided that I didn't want to show up for the kids gem mine field trip hacked up so I decided to do a baseline shave since its been so long since I've shaved with DE regularly and needed to know what good felt like. NDC Gillette Super Speed GSB(1) Route 66 Ghost Town WD Synthetic Pinaud Lime Sec 2 passes, All over BBS, Quiet aftershave. This is what DE should be all the time. Back to the pain tomorrow. Now I know how its supposed to feel so I can better grade my crappy blades.
Razor: Gillette Red Tip Blade: Derby Extra (2) Brush: WDC-8 Brass Handle w/ TGN Finest Soap: Route 66 Barbershop Hop A/S: Fine Platinum Having internet connection problems, so I'll be brief. The Red Tip is one of my favorite razors and is a good match with the Derby Extra. I never include how many passes as I always do 3 passes with a cleanup. DFS today and I hope everyone has a great night.
I believe it's a reference to the fact that Sweeney Todd is the name of a movie about a barber serial killer.
First rule of the dark side, if you are in hurry put the straight razor down.... that applies double for a pain stick. But I am impressed with 'cartel' bravery. I bled allot int he beginning from 'pointy' razors.
May 5 This is May Focus not a MAYhem shave. After yesterdays cat fight with the Feather DX today's have with the FEON felt like easy peasy. Strange how the pain stick can put things into perspective. While this razor is lighter than I prefer it takes a great edge and delivers nice shaves. Sharp and smooth today and no blood. Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A Sharpness A
He just keeps slicing himself.....while using Sweeney Todd soap. I hear the soap is great....the name may be a jinx! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Well after a long day of work I took a shower to try and rid the scent of the Marvy soap. According to the people I work with nobody could smell anything today but the scent stuck with me the whole day. Not sure why it bothers me so much. SWMBO smelled the lather this morning and said it smells like Dove soap to her. I get an entirely different reaction from my nose. Anywho.....when I posted this morning I was on my way out the door and didn't mention tomorrow and call on the next Chosen Chooser. So, tomorrow's shave courtesy of the shaving gods and @English expat is as follows: Blade - Treet New Steel Razor - Edwin Jagger EJ89l Soap - Tabac Brush - VDH Boar Hey, that's not a bad shave! The New Steel is a great blade, the EJ89l a fine razor, Tabac my second fave right behind MWF and the VDH Boar while not a favorite is definitely a good brush. Looks like I drew a good one for MAYhem. May be a bit boring for all of you, but hey, you pay your money you take your chances. Ok, for Friday I'm looking for @mrchick . You know the drill. 1-15 for blade, 1-15 for razor, 1-6 for soap, 1-7 for brush. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!
Wednesday Shower/Shave Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Peppermint bar soap Pso- Homemade grapefruit PSO Brush- RazoRock Plissoft Razor- Muhle R41 on a Maggard MR5 handle Blade- Rapira Stainless (2) Soap- Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Gondolier with M-Bomb Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO AS- Florida Water with M-Bomb Identical shave to last night with similar results. I like this blade but it isn't as smooth as the GSB or Ladas. PAA Gondolier is a great soap, adding M-Bomb brings it to another level. The grapefruit EO Thayers is also great and I'm really liking the Florida Water. A good, three pass BBS shave. Riding the cap worked great again. No tugging, very little irritation. Thank you @Bama Samurai for suggesting it. Have a great day folks!
