Straight Mayhem It's a lot of fun trying to shave around yesterday's wound. Not! I managed to get through today's shave with only an ear scratch. I'm being stubborn about muting the tip on this razor and may need to rethink it. I did have to relent and use a DE to shave between yesterday's wound and my ear. I came to work without a bandage today and have been watching my coworkers try not to react. Its entertaining. TOBS Grapefruit Doug Korn Synthetic Brush Otto Deutsch Hans Alum Thayers Witch Hazel Myrsol Blue AS Have fun!
It just occurred to me that I may have a solution to my spike point scratches. I forgot that I bought this a couple of months ago. Time to get it honed
SOTD May 5, 2016 Prep: Hot Shower. Noxzema Razor: '62 Gillette Slim Blade: Personna Lab Blue Lather: Route 66-The Black Pearl Brush: RazoRock Three Color Plissoft 24mm x 57mm Post: Thayers Rose Petal WH. Aftershave: Route 66-The Black Pearl. Fine L'Orange Noir Great shave. I set the Slim on 6 and went to town, Route 66 TBP is a fabulous soap. This RR bush is dynamite! $12.99 for a quality brush that looks great. Look at the bright side..
So, yesterday was a decent razor and a good blade with a questionable brush and suboptimal soap. Tomorrow sounds like the opposite- Great soap and brush, questionable blade and crappy razor. At least it's not the Tiger.
SOTD 5/5/16 Razor: Schick/Eveready Injector (I am embarrassed to say I don’t know the model) Blade: Chinese Schick Brush: Dubl Duck M2/ Omega 10066 boar Soap: The Shave Den Iced Yin Yang Post: Cold Water rinse, Alum, Thayers’ Aftershave: The Shave Den Splash: Iced Yin Yang So I realized I haven’t had time to give the details of my Mayhem plan. I want to try a lot of different razor types, and use all of my soaps this month. Have a few blades I haven’t tried as well. Going to be shaving more than every two days to make that all happen. Lots of posts to catch up on. Today was my first ever shave with an injector. Two pass plus touch up yielded and effortless DFS plus. I can see why these razors get so much love. Haven’t used TSD soaps in a while. Great lather and slickness. Still in my top five soap makers.
Chemistry holds that adding unsaponified fats to soap actually defeats the soap's suds building abilities. Try glycerin.
May 5, 2016 It’s Hydro-Magic May! I’ll spend the month with my three Schick Eversharp razors that sport the Hydro-Magic shaving/cleansing head - Types I2, J3, K1 Hot Shower Razor: 1962-1968 Type K Lady Eversharp Beauty Razor Blade: Schick (China) (1) Soap: Route 66 - Sea & Citrus Brush: Ever-Ready 1CS Badger TSD Witch Hazel AS: Myrsol Limon One-pass shave - ATG Seems as smooth and efficient as the I2 and J3. Longer handle required an adjustment, (must help when I do my legs!) Same smooth shave as the other H-M razors this week. Cheers! RT
Razor: Gillette Red Tip Blade: Derby Extra (3) Brush: "Tres Amigos" Desert Ironwood w/Envy White Soap: Route 66 Bourbon Jungle A/S: Route 66 Bourbon Jungle Balm (test sample) Amazing shave brush, simply amazing. Bourbon Jungle is one of my favorite shave soaps, if not my favorite. Rich woody notes of Italian Bergamot, Apple Wood and Tonka Bean rounded by hints of Patchouli, Cedarwood, and Oakmoss, with exotic notes of Cardamom, Vanilla Bourbon and Allspice. Handcrafted traditional shaving soap formulated for Long lasting, slick lather Protective cushion and glide Soothing post shave conditioning. An outstanding BBS shave today.
Makes sense... this is what I was hoping someone was going to say yesterday when I first floated this plan.
I think that may be an E, but could be a G. A better photo of the blade mount and we'd know for sure. Edit: if the lever pivots to open the head for cleaning, it's an E. If not, G.
