Late entry: My first shave with my Schick Type G Razor!!!

    Pre: Proraso Pre-shave cream
    Razor: Schick Type G
    Blade: Schick Injector
    Brush: Parker Pure Badger
    Soap: Haslinger Schafmilch
Post: Witch Hazel / Proraso ASB

First shave with my Schick was a huge success. I did my usual preshave routine: shower, Proraso preshave cream. Lathered up with a my Parker Pure Badger. I used Haslinger Schafmilch because I knew I would get a top class lather.

As I started shaving with the Schick I wasn't sure if it was cutting or not. Very little auditory feedback. I checked and sure enough it was cutting. It was just incredibly smooth. In fact it was probably one of the smoothest shaves I ever had with almost no effort. I did a two pass (WTG/XTG) and ended up with a near BBS shave. I don't usually do multiple passes, but I wanted to test the limits of the Schick. Two passes and absolutely no irritation. Awesome little razor.

    Got that right Spyder!

What's really gonna blow your mind Rusty is how the great results today are going to set you up for tomorrow.

Many of my two pass DE shaves have given way to one pass shaves if I keep using the injectors and a keen focus on technique.

Careful, you may be sticking around for awhile!

I must confess I will miss the heft of a metal DE in my hand, but I can tell I am going to enjoy this SE thing for a while. Great razor. And dirt cheap. I purchased three Schick Type-G razors last summer on my antique store hunting trips and didn't pay more than $5 for any of them.

When I started DE shaving I couldn't imagine anything coming close to a DE shave. But this Schick razor has surpassed expectations. As I noted above, I will miss the weightiness of a metal DE in my hand. I find the Schick to be a lightweight instrument.

Normal (LazyLens 20160506 092447 HD).jpg Another great shave with the PAL adjustable. The Stirling bergamot and lavender provides a really slick, protective lather. Have a great mother's day weekend, gentlemen:)

This afternoon I picked up a nice Type E Eversharp Schick Injector Razor. Very pleased with this find. Cleaned up nicely.

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Razor: GEM Featherweight, Schick G1
    Brush: Vulfix 2006C badger
    Lather: Arko Cool cream
Post: Witch hazel splash, Fred's Old Spice knock-off, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG

Hmmmm.......another disappointing shave with the GEM Featherweight. I ended up pretty smooth but have some irritation on my neck. The shave just didn't feel good. The blade tugged like crazy to begin with but I persevered. By the time I got through half of my neck it was painful to try and shave there. So I switched briefly to my G1 to finish off down there. First pass reduction was pretty good, just not comfortable.

I relathered for pass two and went back to the GEM. This pass was much better but still not the best. My neck has some irritated areas where I used the GEM.

Not sure what the problem was. Perhaps a dud blade? That was a new stainless blade. Oh well. I'll start with the GEM razor and blade tomorrow (if I shave). If it goes poorly again I may have to put it away for a while.

The bright spot is that I got to use my new scuttle! I bowl-lathered the Arko cream with cold water in the scuttle. It worked well! My sister made the scuttle for me as a birthday gift. She's a ceramic artist and had made a scuttle for the first time back in December. She had never heard of one and got a custom order. It was fun to use!

Hope you all are having a great weekend!
