    Menthol Monday

    Cold water 3.gif

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: C.O. Bigelow Cream M-Bombed
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD SubZero, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Nice shave this morning with the Schick G1 injector. This follows two uncomfortable shaves over the weekend with a GEM Featherweight. Today was a redemption from those experiences. I added about 5 drops of M-Bomb to my scuttle and then whipped up some Bigelow cream on top of it. Nice, thick, excellent lather. The G1 maneuvered around very nicely. The TSD SubZero splash added another layer of cool.

One big pass with touch-ups is all I needed on this Monday. Hope you all have a great day!

    May 9, 2016- Soap/Lather Focus

Razor: Standard 160 Goodwill (New LC-based)
    Blade: German Wilkie (1)
    Brush: Marvy, VdH Boar
    Soap: Williams
    AS: Aveeno After Shave Lotion

After Saturday's success with Williams, I decided to try and step things up a bit by using the Marvy "genuine bristle" brush. This is a smaller, more rigid knot which, for me, is harder to load and hydrate. The last time I used it, it started to shed badly and I've been a bit afraid to try it again. Lathering started as expected with a questionable soap load and the need to go back and load more product. My first sign of trouble was seeing odd flecks on the soap followed quickly by a sensation familiar to anyone who has ever had their cat shed all over their face. This so completely unnerved me that I hurriedly washed off all the lather to get rid of the feeling of hair all over my face.

Starting over with the VdH boar, things went much better. I initially thought I might have overhydrated the lather, but it seemed to stabilize into copious amounts of a decent lather. Clearly, though, my mojo had been thrown off as I ended up reopening an old weeper and having some mild neck irritation.

The Marvy brush is now in the trash. After the last two shaves with it, I don't think I could ever put it to my face again. It's strange, despite the reputation that the VdH brush has, I've never experienced this level of shedding with it. I seem to get the odd single hair ever now and then, but nothing en masse.

I think I'm going to be staying with the Goodwill for most of the rest of the month. I haven't been giving it as much use lately and I'm slightly concerned that my technique has slacked off because of it. Maybe it's time to bring out the Thick-Cap OT?

    May Focus Day 8:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Stirling Cool SS
    Schick Adjustable
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Proraso AS

I didn't get a pic this morning, but I did get to use my home made shave stick of Stirling Cool. It was a great shave with plenty of lather. It was also the quickest I had ever lathered Stirling. It was a bit different, but it worked better than I had hoped. The adjustable was great as ever, but the blade is feeling a little dull. I may swap to a new razor for Wednesday.

Shave number four of my "Riding the Cap" focus. Another fantastic shave! 3 passes WTG, XTG, ATG and I am BBS and still irritation free. I haven't been going ATG because normally this causes me to have an outbreak of ingrown hairs but after last shave I had none, I attribute it all to riding the cap. So in my search for a 3 pass shave that rivals the shaves that I get with my G1 injector I am confident that I have found it in this formula. I am ready to move on to another razor and see if I cant replicate my results with the same technique. Have a great shave everyone!

Mongoose Monday!! The thing with the Mongoose is it's very consistent, I get great shaves using it with no effort. GFT Rose is wonderful! Just a beautiful soap. The RR boar is such a great value, I've put my Semogue boars in storage because of the way this brush performs.

I have been very concerned over the last month or so that I haven't been able to give this forum or thread enough attention. Its very important to me that Neal is harassed in the proper way, and that the shenanigans continue. I am glad to see others are stepping up to cover my dereliction of duty. Thank you, @Mr. Freeze93.

I'm back in the saddle. After hacking up my face last week, I used my travel DE razor for three days while I healed. My excuse was the difficulty of traveling with a straight, blah, blah, blah.
This morning I was stropping my razor when my wife walked in and said, "your using a straight?!" with a look of horror. I told her I would be careful and had learned from last week's horror. To which she just shook her head and left the room.
I managed to get a DFS today with just a small weeper on my neck. I'll get this figured out
    Route 66 Sweeney Todd soap
    Doug Korn brush
    Otto Deutsch Hans razor
    Alum
    Thayers witch hazel
    Lucky Tiger AS
    Have a great week!

So no free passes here folks. Yes @Bama Samurai deserved our respect, but it was earned!

Aaack? The jury is still out.
Perhaps at some point... but I mean, after all....

    Huh? Just 20? why not 30, 40? :think002:
Perhaps you're thinking something better might come along? Or is it my lax usage of Russian blades?

    SOTD - Menthol Monday

    and....it’s Hydro-Magic May! :bounce017:
I’ll spend the month with my three Schick Eversharp razors that sport the Hydro-Magic shaving/cleansing head - Types I2, J3, K1

Razor: 1962-1968 Type K Lady Eversharp Beauty Razor
    Blade: Schick (Holland) (2)

    AS: Myrsol Blue

Like a few others who have bought razors for their significant others, Mrs. RTF prefers shorter handled razors. So as I’m spending 2016 going through all my injectors, I reached that point in the alphabet where it was time to try it out. Testosterone-driven ego pushed aside, I stepped up to the Lady Eversharp Beauty Razor.

My excellent Sunday shave set me up with minimal whiskers today. So I planned a one-pass shave (ATG), with touch-ups.

Obviously this razor was made for short arms and long legs. (My physique is the opposite…TMI, i know.) So I choked up on the handle and enjoyed a very good shave. (yes, of my face!) :happy068:

A bit more feedback than I expected, but perhaps it was this sharp blade. Touch ups were minimal and resulted in a silky smooth shave that compares very well with my other two, manly, hydro-magic Schicks.:happy036:

    Cheers!
