Excellent shave this early evening. Wood splitting today, and filling the garage with the wood, not finished, but a good start.
This is one of my favorite shave brushes. The Route 66 Cavendish is another amazing soap from Kathleen. :happy096:

    Thanks Doug.

The Black Pearl is another very subtle-scented soap from R66. Its's not like the more noticeable scent strength of others, like Bourbon Jungle...though I like the scent on it as well.

I prefer subtle, nuanced scents. They don't knock you over, but they are long lasting and I enjoy the whiff of it I get from time to time later in the day. Though I don't have a great nose for such complex layers of subtlety, this soap is similar that way to some R66 soap samples I've tried like Sea&Citrus, Perfect Gent, Sweeny Todd and even Barbershop Hop. TBP has an earthy base with very gentle floral scents up front. I'm glad I got a full puck of it!

I see that MrC got his hands quickly onto the new scent - Perfect Storm.
    Whaddya think Mr C?

Thanks for your review @Rufus T. I'll put The Black Pearl to use tomorrow. I like both types of soaps. Sometimes I like Bourbon Jungle and Lumberjack that have a strong scent, and other times, like you I prefer a less noticeable scent. It's good that Route 66 have both.

Good picture yesterday @Drygulch. How's the new position going? Are you getting settled in alright?

I tried two new scents this week. Yesterday was Twisted Tweed and today was Perfect Storm.
Both are very nice scents with the PS a more subtle scent than the TT. Now I'm a stronger scent kind of guy and rank the TT up with the Sweeney Todd because I can smell them when I'm shaving. Perfect Storm is more subtle like Retro Spice and not as noticeable to me when shaving, yet smells great if I stick my nose in the lather
All of these soaps are great performers and my favorite scents will have a permanent place in my den.

Thank you, Doug! It's performing very well with the "ride the cap" technique focus!

    More MAYhem

Another round for the Feather DX. To give myself the best chance to minimise the blood letting I went with my best software setup, boiled my water filled the scuttle and made some hot lather out of some Queen Charlotte Soaps cream.

Less blood than last time, I think I halved the amount of weepers and halved the severity of the weepers. It feels like the DX is more aggressive than the CJB. I am off to Hokkaido Japan tomorrow so when I return I will need to do a comparison. Despite the blood 4 passes left me a very close BBS and minimal feedback from the alum. The blade felt smoother this time, maybe it is because it is the second shave or the software.

    Irritation A- Closeness A Smoothness A- Sharpness A+

    No pic Thursday

Well I got my shower and shave on a little early tonight. I guess I messed up some because a got about 2 weepers and a little irritation. Same soap, brush and blade (Voskhod) as last time, but this time I went back to the Nivea instead of the old spice
