No need for sorry Herm. I'm not nuts about my long handles either. It is a matter of getting used to it but with so many great injectors out there...well they can't all be my favorite.

Don't give up on injectors though brother. They can be very satisfying shaves. Technique, technique, technique! You can do it! :happy088:

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
    Brush: Semogue 1520 boar
    Lather: VDH Luxury scented
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Pretty good shave with the G1 injector and VDH soap face lathered with the Semogue boar. No nicks or weepers or irritation. I did one big pass with touch-ups around the jaw and neck areas. The G1 is a great razor! I've said it a lot this month already. I really enjoy using it!

    Have a great day!

The Schick Type G continues to perform like a Ferrari. Efficient and handles great on the turns. Day 6 with this blade and I still can't detect any perceptible change in the quality of the blade. Still smooth and sharp. If anything it is mellowing. This morning I started my pre-shave routine with Proraso red preshave cream. (I usually use white). Powerful stuff. I don't use it often, but every time I do I am reminded of three things: it feels great going on, the scent reminds me of my Dad, and just a little dab is all it takes to do the job!

    Proraso red preshave cream
    Schick Type G
    Simpsons Special / Haslinger Schafmilch
Witch Hazel / Proraso White ASB
I was going to start grading my shaves, but since I started with the Schick it seems pointless...they are all 10/10 :chores016:

I've been doing this since January on various models each month, and am almost finding it impossible to grade between some of them. It'll probably take years to discover all the subtle differences. Oh well, I'm on the train wherever it takes me. I guess if we stay on long enough, we'll be able to write a book on them. (hmmm, i wonder if there's someone out there who can get started on it now?.....:think002:

    It’s Hydro-Magic May!
I’ll spend the month with my three Schick Eversharp razors that sport the Hydro-Magic shaving/cleansing head - Types I2, J3, K1

    Hot Shower
Razor: 1958-1964 Schick Eversharp Type J3 "Golden 500"
    Blade: Schick (Holland) (4)
Soap: Route 66 - The Black Pearl
    Brush: Stirling Kong synthetic
    TSD Witch Hazel

It's deja's-vu all over again, another one-pass shave (ATG).

    Cheers!

I tend to be quite boring. If I find something that works well (e.g. my current Type G)...then I will stay with that tool and not stray. I do wonder, however, if the Type G is significantly different from the later model, longer handle, Schicks...e.g J3?

Excellent shave this early evening. Wood splitting today, and filling the garage with the wood, not finished, but a good start.
This is one of my favorite shave brushes. The Route 66 Cavendish is another amazing soap from Kathleen. :happy096:

Shave 3 with the same setup. This is the third shave with the blade I honed. It was smooth as can be on 2 full days growth. I finished with a DFS shave tonight. This razor is smooth and not too aggressive. I like more aggressive razors so all I did was add a fourth pass. There is no, nada, zip, irritation with this razor. I am finding the angle very easily found. I plan one more shave with this, then I will go back to the other Rapide. This one I can dial in a bit more aggression. Really looking forward to these wedge shaves.

Another fine shave with the GEM pushbutton. When people talk about audible feedback, I never personally experienced that due to my deafness; until one day I shaved with my devices in. But this thing is loud! Even without my hearing aids, it sounds like Velcro coming apart.
The soap was TSD lavender with lanolin. Every time I use it I'm reminded what a wonderful soap it is:). If you haven't tried TSD soaps; you really should. That goes for the aftershaves too. I typically use this lavender set for late night shaves, as the scent of lavender is almost like a sleeping pill to me:) Good night gentlemen.... Vintage (LazyLens 20160405 073854 HD).jpg

Nothing boring about sticking with what works!

The J3 was the first injector I tried because I found it at a great price. It was just after I had done my first 30 day rule with a DE. As I started my next Rule with other DEs, I found the J3 and started trimming around my mustache and goatee. Smooth and easy!

So a few months later I started trying injectors. Been using them exclusively for 6 months since. In that time I've gotten used to and more fond of the short handle injectors.

But I will spend the next two and a half months with the Schick long handles, Pals and Personnas - who knows where my preferences will land then.

    Tough lives we lead!

Back to the type D tomorrow.....just can't stay away. The LE hydromagic is just too mild and its awkward as hell to hold so its off to the storage drawer.

I'm loving the comic book covers and good looking G1.

Congrats on finding a razor that's hitting the mark. When your blade does run out, you might want to consider trying a different one (e.g. a Personna if you're using a Schick or vice versa.) The Schicks change noticeably with different blades and, as hard as it may be to believe, you might find an even better shave. :happy088:
