May Focus Day 11: Stirling Synthetic Brush MdC Frederick's Celebrated Stirling Unscented PSB Fine Fresh Vetiver This was my last shave with this razor for the month, and it went very well. I really enjoy using this razor as it almost seems effortless to use. I got a nice DFS with one pass and a little clean up. MdC got the shave started right, and I used a little Fine Fresh Vetiver to put the finishing touches on this morning. I am primed for a great day, and I hope everyone has one as well.
SOTD May 12, 2016 Injector/SE Focus Prep: Warm shower Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick G1 Injector Brush: Semogue 1520 boar Lather: VDH Luxury scented Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Day 3 with this combination and another good shave. The VDH soap works pretty well. It's not the best soap out there but for it's quite good for the price. The G1 glided right through the lather with no problems. This is shave 9 with the Chick blade. I noticed maybe a tiny difference today, but it is still sharp and comfortable. No nicks, weepers, or irritation. Pretty smooth shave for one pass with touch-up. Have a great day everyone!
05/12/2016 AlumiGoose with Hempel Ti Feather Pro (4) Rudy Vey Rover with TGN Finest Mystic Water Lime Witch Hazel Folsom & Co. Shambala Whipped Shea Butter A fantastic work morning shave. I love the straight lime scent of MW Lime. It's strong during lathering and the shave but like most citrus scents dissipates quickly. The RV Rover whipped up the MW soap quickly into a wonderful slick lather. Since the 2 pass XTG and ATG routine ended with a near BBS, I took the time to chase the baby with touch ups. Managed to get that spot on my neck and catch the BBS. Sticking with the citrus theme I finished with a splash of F&C Shambala followed by Citrus/Lavender Whipped Shea Butter. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
May 12, 2016- Soap/Lather Focus Razor: Standard 160 Goodwill Blade: German Wilkie (5) Brush: Chinese Pure Badger Soap: Williams Another day, another try with Flopsy the Badger. After a bit of reading, I figured that yesterday's lathering issues might be because of not enough water during the initial load, so I tried with more. Apparently, I crossed the line, though, as I ended up with the stereotypical Williams lather- thin and quickly dissipating (though still slick). In the end, I stopped with a decent CCS and one small weeper on my chin. Back to the VdH Boar for tomorrow. At times like, this I really have to admire members like @DDuckyMark and @NCoxSTL who have really gotten a handle on the techniques to where they could get a lather from Irish Spring using the brush from a kid's watercolor set. At eight months in, I still have a long ways to go on my journey.
Have you tried the VDH Deluxe ? I always get top notch lather from it, thick and smooth. I will note that it does take a little more water and time when building the lather though
I've used Deluxe in the past and liked it. I don't see it in the stores any longer. It seems that the Luxury line has replaced Deluxe. I'm sure it's out there in some stores but I don't any new soaps for a while! I need to use some up first. That's what I'm attempting to do with this VDH puck.
It's leprechaun magic that makes it work with Irish Spring. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
It's Thursday! The @PLAla shave is in. Report this evening. That brings @Joe Babb to the plate for tomorrow and here's what we have for a Friday shave: Blade - Laser Ultra Razor - 1918 Gillette Old Style Soap - Marvy Brush - Wolf Whiskers What a mixed bag that one is. The Laser Ultra wasn't overly impressive its first run and it will be in the aggressive Old Style. The Wolf keeps getting the love of the pick but I'm not sure it will even allow itself to touch the Marvy. Really?! Marvy again?! Hope you all have a great day!
OH, and that means @Linuxguile is up in the Chosen Chooser spot! So.....if you would sir, choose 1-15 for the blade, 1-15 for the razor, 1-6 for the soap and 1-7 for the brush for Saturday.
Straight Mayhem Route 66 Twisted Tweed Doug Korn brush Hien 650 Alum Nancy Boy AS Balm Ogallala Bay Rum Have fun!
I'm glad to say it looks like I won't be permanently disfigured. One week later and it's almost healed
