They are all the same aggressiveness level. The true straight has a more forgiving feel to it and the AC is harsher. The DE thing can be smooth or not depending on the blade. I would guess that the blade flexation and bloodthirstiness would be about in the same range as the AC (painstick). They all 3 have near infinant amount of angle adjustment. I would try the DE thing. I don't have a razor I'm willing to do that too. Maybe if I still had my Gillette Stirling.
MAYhem 2016 May 12 Razor - Aristocrat Blade - (2) Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Soap - Tabac Post - Cold Rinse, Alum, Nivea It's the @PLAla shave and other than the blade he treated me like royalty. Well, him and the shaving gods who are paying attention. Obviously lather was great with the Wolf and Tabac. I needed that to remind me what a top tier soap is like after so many days of Marvy. Arko helped yesterday, Tabac healed. That should be a commercial. I want the royalties. Obviously the Aristocrat is no problem. So what of the Dorco 300? The first time I used it was on the 6th when @mrchick set me up with it in the Soyuz 1. The problem with that setup, besides the crappy razor, is it's impossible to judge a blade in that razor. So today I hoped to find out more about the 300. I'll keep it brief by saying that any problems with the first use of the blade were caused by the Soyuz. The blade was quite smooth and comfortable today for two passes and touch up. And, the irritation was very light at the end with the alum. Just a couple of spots on my neck where I did some serious touch up were hot. Other than that this turned out to be a nice shave in the middle of a bunch of "meh" shaves. I'll take it and hope for a few more. Now, tomorrow it's the @Joe Babb shave with the aggressive 1918 Old Style which, by the way, I'm guarding from @Bama Samurai, @mrchick, @Mr. Freeze93 and the rest of that crowd who have been butchering vintage OC's to try their new style of "straight DE shaving". Nobody gets to mess up my 1918. I'll be putting the Laser Ultra in it which wasn't a great blade but not the worst. And I get to use the Wolf again which is a good thing........except it will be lathering Marvy. Another day of trying not to smell myself afterwards! Hope you all had a great Thursday!
I don't think @Mr. Freeze93 has cut one up yet. Typically when there are some shenanigans on this thread and someone is instigating it, there is a quiet guy with no CT in the background, sending PMs and calling out people publicly to get them to go along. For the Watch! Wait, wrong forum.
I'm way to cool too cut one up. I am just going to super glue a Feather Pro to a popsicle stick to show them up.
I'm wondering what brought this on. If we start having this kind of influence on everyone then this thread will look like a Quentin Tarantino film. Chris has always been the shave safe guy with technique to trump all danger. I feel like I need to do some safe shaves to make up for this. Tabac stick and GSB in a Super Speed kinda safe. No Alum or Alcohol kinda safe. My sharp rock will have to go back in the yard. My beercan kamisori will have to get recycled. And for those of you new to this ride I have the following: 1.) Beer can Kamisori. Honed to a shave ready edge but not a very long lasting one. 2.) guy shaving with a sharp rock.
That is still one fine looking "beerasori". But yes, I'm thinking we may need to call a Cartel safety meeting before someone loses an ear. However, looking like a Tarantino film isn't bad in my book. Huge fan here. Kind of thinking the movie we may be making from some of these shaves is "Bloody Pulp nonFiction". You may groan now.
Did you see the cut up beer can in my last post? Boxcutter blade with no holder and no lather, just water. Alum and 91% rubbing alcohol finish.
All right then I will dry shave with a blade in my hand. No water, no lather, and uhhh I will do it drunk lol.
Yep, My cousin on Facebook confirmed that it was a manual planer blade , dry while impaired. Kids don't try anything you have seen in the last page of posts at home. Really you should just forget they are there at all.
What's the worst that could happen? I'll also let my hair grow for 3-5 days so it will be all the more painful.
good grief you guys. LOL Well I played it safe compared to what you are planning. Got a pretty good shave tonight, not the best but I was playing around with a new soap and brush and maybe should have gone with a new blade tonight. Tonight's shave was some Catie's Bubbles sandalwood and a beautiful Fine Bader Bush in olive wood handle I received from our very own Blind Squirrel. Using my Grandfathers TV special and a 3 day Voskhod blade...umm or was it 4th day. Well either was it was the last day on it. Followed up with a cold water rinse and my newly discovered alum block, I had stuck it in my medicine cabinet and forgot I had it. The alum block gave a little tingling sensation on my neck but wasn't bad. I put on some Nivea sensitive aftershave balm and was done. I got a DFS on my neck and a BBS on my cheeks, all in all I am pleased with tonight's shave and loving the sent of this soap.
