Very impressed here. Thought the red tip was to aggressive for me. I put a new Racer blade in her and got a great shave. Had to be a little more careful with an aggressive razor very little pressure but it was smooth and efficient. Now was this due to the razor or the blade? Never heard of Racer blades just had one laying around.
Well I have used now...a tech, old, new, open comb, solid bar,old superspeed reg, black tip,new superspeed blue tip, regular, black handle, red tip, fatboy, slim, & black beauty and I can oly say one thing...man I'm now more confused than ever!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I could probably with a lot of due diligence decide on one blade and one razor and have consistently smooth perfect comfortable shaves every time but then wet shaving would become boring Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Not necessarily. I shave with my Wolfman 90% of the time and I don't get bored. Of course, I am a find what works and stick with it type of guy though.
Same with me. I stick with the same 3 razors primarily because they work for me. I tend to use my cheapest set up which is the handle from the Utopia razor because of its heft and the Maggard v3 head. I could use this everyday with a Nacet blade the rest of my life and be satisfied. My enjoyment comes from trying various soaps and aftershave products.
Variety is the spice of life. It takes me more time to choose what to use than it does to shave. It's one of the reasons I never settled down with one girl till I was 57 years young. Shave of the day I'll get back to you in an hour.
If you like the red tip, try a rocket HD. I have one, it's 73 grams and has a silky smooth TTO mechanism. It shaves as close as a red tip, but is a higher quality razor imho.
My Red Tip is more pressure sensitive than other razors. I found that using less pressure gives me much better shaves with no effort. With that said, blades do make a difference in different razors. Work on one thing at a time.
Actually, a Red Tip is my next razor that I hope to purchase. They seem to be easier to acquire than a Fat Boy. I have a Slim at the moment, but I would like to get one of each Gillette before it's all said and done.
Try getting a hold of a Barbasol Floating Head Razor. You won't be disappointed. Big, heavy, agile, and very efficient razor.
I don't think it's as aggressive as a red tip, but it is more aggressive than a Super Speed. The extra weight is definitely a factor in the face feel. I know I like the way both of my Aristocrat Juniors shave.
I have 8 vintage Gillette in my rotation. A 30s or 40s Era cased Gold Aristocrat, a Gold and a nickel cased Fat Handle Techs, a mint, cased 56 Blue Tip and same but Red, two 58 cased SS T.V. Specials, a minty, cased 1960 Fat Boy and a Schick Krona and can't pick a favorite for the life of me.
I've got those same two Techs. I just finished with my Red and a Voskhod, and while it gave me a good shave, the Techs feel better. The best of the bunch has to be the ball-end, though.
The Red Tip was my favorite of the vintage Gillette SuperSpeeds. Loved the heavy, knurled handle and more efficient (i.e. 'aggressive') shave. Sold it to another TSDer.
