I generally change my razor and blade weekly on Sundays. Clean up the old razor and select a new one. Today I am faced with the problem of deciding whether I will continue using my Schick or go back to a DE. Tomorrow is my "change" day and I have to decide. I have so many awesome DE razors, but I am getting such near-perfect shaves my Schick. If I use the Schick I will clean it up with some Scrubbing Bubbles and a soak in soapy water and insert a new blade...even though this blade is still giving excellent smooth shaves. Decisions...decisions...:scared011:

Today it was a typical Saturday morning shave...a bit more relaxed than during the week. No rush to get in and out and get lunches ready and breakfast on the table.

    Pre: Noxema preshave cream
    Razor: Schick
    Brush: Semogue 1305

I started my wet shaving journey with vintage Gillette razors. I thoroughly enjoyed the collecting phase...I have many. Shaving with a vintage Gillette has been a pleasure, the highlight of my day. I was firmly committed to DE shaving and enjoyed every aspect of the experience.

But then I met her...a Schick Type G razor.:love029: Our eyes met through the glass of an antique store display case. :love055: I was hesitant at first. But then we spent some time together...in fact we have spent every morning together now for weeks...we are inseparable. I am smitten. My DEs are starting to complain. Why am I spending all my time with that Type G? I am torn. I love my DEs, but the shaves I have been getting with my Type G are worthy of taking out a full page ad in the newspaper to proclaim my new found and enduring love for everything Schick.

Am I the only one who is having this experience?:(

I'm new to Schick G type razors. So far I am very impressed.

You are not alone @Rusty blade. I show love to my injectors a few times a week now but I still find time for the DE's. Do what you feel buddy. :)

@Rusty blade I know exactly what your going through. I myself was a DE shaver exclusively until one day a Gem 1912 SE razor caught my eye. Now all my Gem, Ever Ready, Schick Injector Adjustable and straight razors are getting all my attention and my DE just hangs on the shelf neglected. Its hard to quit using all my SE razors when the results are what they are. I guess we need to start "The neglected DE razor club". Good luck with your new found love . I think I'm headed for the wedge train next.

I agree with you about the Ted Pellas. They are not nearly as smooth as the chicks!

I had the same experience. I finally gave in to the fact SE razors are for me. My DE's just sit there looking sad.

No Rusty you are not alone!

As I come up on my first full year of shaving without cartridges, electric etc., I seem to be in the exact same place.

Started with DEs last May and could not believe the difference in my shaves. I swore to never go back to carts and I picked up about half a dozen DEs. Little did I know I was just cracking the door open to so many options in this new passion.

Hanging out mostly on the 30-Day Focus Thread, someone suggested a SE SEptember focus on SEs and injectors - and another door opened. I was hooked on injectors. I've essentially tried every injector type and a few other SEs ever since last September.

I've accumulated at least one Schick model in every Type from C thru M and am spending this year with a different Type each month. Two PALs and a Personna will follow. My hope was to pare down to a handful of favorites and rotate between them and my favorite DEs each week. But like you've experienced with your G - I haven't found any injector that I want to part with!

Such problems! At least my RAD for DEs and Injectors has been sated.

Thank goodness I have a tremor that keeps me from doing straights or I'd probably be heading down another rabbit hole!

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: GEM PFTE Coated
    Razor: GEM Featherweight
    Brush: Vulfix 2006C badger
    Lather: VDH Luxury M-Bombed
Post: Witch hazel splash, Country Club 1837, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG

Wow, what a redemption shave! I used the GEM razor last weekend with a stainless blade with terrible results. The shaves were most uncomfortable. Today's shave confirmed that the blade from last weekend was bad. This shave was great! The GEM mowed through a day and a half worth of beard with no problems. It felt smooth, comfortable, and great.

I bowl lathered the VDH with 6-7 drops of M-Bomb in my custom scuttle that was filled with ice water. The ice water and menthol all worked to great satisfaction. Rinsing with ice water after the first pass with the menthol felt amazing.

Two passes, ice water rinses, witch hazel, Country Club 1837 and Nivea all finished off a really nice shave. Unfortunately my wife doesn't like the 1837. Smells "aggressive and powdery" to her, so it's probably not a repeater for me. She approves of the Veg so I have to take my disapprovals seriously!

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

I started with DEs in late December of last year. Then Clint64 came along with a generous gift of a G1 injector. I used it a little bit off and on but then decided to do a focus this month with it and the GEM Featherweight. Holy cow! Incredible shaves. I love the G1. The GEM was fantastic today (terrible last weekend with a bad blade). Injectors and SE razors are growing mightily in my eyes.

I'm not a collector and don't want a ton of razors. I want to use them as tools and not just have them as a collection. With that in mind, for all you knowledgeable folks in this thread, what type of injector or SE should I look for next? If the G1 works well what would be the next step? Or should I just stick with the G1 and be happy?

It depends. It sounds like you are on the precipice of becoming a collector. That's how it happened to me. "If I like this one, how would that one be?" Down the slippery slope I went

Amazing shave this evening with the Tres Amigos Envy White brush. The Sweeny Todd whipped into an amazing lather. Sweeney Todd shaving soap is brimming with the aroma of delicious Sicilian blood oranges, with their signature spicy berry undertone, blended with a hint of fir, warmed on a rich woody base. The Route 66 Sweeny Todd after shave balm has the same amazing fragrance and is soothing on the face after a excellent shave.
The Schick G1 has been an excellent shaver all week. I would highly recommend I to anyone. Definitely a BBS today.
