I'm back..... Mystery May!! Weishi Day 4, 5 - 13, 14May 2016 Mystery blade Weishi was a five day unqualified success. Ride the cap, Y'all! Been super busy around the house and land today, tired and happy. I am filling a fine tobacco pipe with some tobacco I paid way too much for, then I am gonna read 100+ from the 30DC and relax for the first time since 06:00. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Weishi 9306 (Mystery blade (4,5) L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic Route 66 - Lumberjack Alum TSD ISZ AS Aqua Velva Musk AS Have a Super Sunday!
05/15/2016 Wolfman OC with Triad Ti Feather (1) Rubberset 400 with Omega 49 Knot TSD Yin Yang Witch Hazel Fine Platinum Whipped Shea Butter A very good shave this morning. The big beast of a boar whipped up the TSD Yin Yang quickly into a nice slick lather. The Wolfman OC loaded with a fresh Feather took the whiskers away quickly ending in a near BBS. Finished with a splash of Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a blessed Sunday.
Razor: Gillette Aristocrat Blade: Dorco St 301 (1) Brush: Tres Amigos, Desert Ironwood w/Envy White Soap: TSD Iced Old Spice Type A/S: TSD Iced Old Spice Type Bowl: Pottersong Very enjoyable shave today. Have an outstanding Sunday.
At the midpoint of the month, I'm really thinking I need to apologize to you and Mark for ever mentioning, let alone sending both of you, the Marvy soap. I can definitely commiserate with you on the razor, though. I have the OC version of that razor (a Cadet TTO) and found it very aggressive and harsh. (Makes me think Russians have it easy compared to Indians.)
May Focus Day 14: Stirling Synthetic Brush Mitchell's Wool Fat Henry Sears and Son Queen Stirling Unscented PSB TOBS Sandalwood AS Second shave with this razor this month, and it was as good as the first. I ended with a DFS on one pass plus clean up. I am off to start my Sunday at church. I hope everyone has a great day!
Probably 45-60 minutes. It's cold here today so they where just feeding and heading back to the woods. On a warm day they will sit up there for some time and keep other Hummingbirds from feeding. Funny to watch actually. My wife got a good laugh out of this, this morning. I think she is thinking about having me committed. Thanks for your kind words.
Straight Mayhem I think I will have to quit calling this mayhem as I'm several days without blood. I am now experiencing very nice shaves with my straights. It's even becoming relaxing. I think I might not make it back from the Dark Side. This razor is an extremely nice shaver. Two pass DFS. One WTG and one XTG. Mike's Natural Soap Doug Korn Brush Hien 650 Razor Alum St John's Bay Rum Happy Sunday!
May 15, 2016- Soap/Lather Focus Razor: Pre-War Tech Blade: Gillette Platinum Plus (1) Brush: BdH Boar Soap: Cella I've got to stop overthinking this so much... I decided today to take a break and pull out the Cella, just to remind myself what I'm trying to accomplish. Got a nice brush load, built up what I thought was a good lather, and started the shave. About halfway through the pass, I noticed that I was actually scraping soap off my face. Damn. Turns out I under hydrated the Cella. (This coming after days of over hydrating Williams.) More water on the brush and continued on to a DFS... and a mess cleaning soap residue out of the razor. I found myself looking longingly a a VdH puck in the Supermarket yesterday. It seems like things were much simpler then.
It's hard to mess up VdH. I always have a puck here, mostly for head shaves but sometimes just because I don't want to mess with the others.
MAYhem 2016 May 15 Razor - Gillette 1949 Super Speed Blade - (1) Brush - Tweezerman Floppy Shedmaster Soap - Tabac Post - Cold Rinse, Alum, Nivea It's a sunny and very cool day in STL. Welcome to our Spring. 90 one day, 40 the next. But, at least the murder count continues to rise. When you're good at something stick with it!! It's the @ob1page second shave of the month and as you can see above I got a good draw on this one. The Tweezerman brush leaves something to be desired but.....in its defense....it produced a really good lather off of the Tabac. Just loading the brush ended up producing lather that I was able to use and the face lather really worked it up nicely. Given the floppy nature of this brush (it's about the cheapest badger you can buy) I wondered if it would work with Marvy. Then, I shuddered, realizing that I was thinking about Marvy while lathering Tabac. Something is wrong. Very wrong. The Ladas blade is from my open good tuck of blades. The duds are long gone. And, the shave was absolutely magnificent. I know, I know, not what you want to hear for MAYhem but that's the truth. Two passes. Two minor touch ups. Baby is in the house. Considering it's halfway through the month this was a great halftime shave. Now, on to Monday which is the second @DDuckyMark shave. And, as much as I'd like to tell him that he pulled the Wildcard, setting up a potential Tiger, I assume he'll be happy with this. I'm actually putting in a request to have random.org checked for tampering. Blade - Baili Blue (horrid) Razor - Soyuz 1 (less razor, more crashed space vehicle) Soap - Need I say it? Marvy. AGAIN!!! Brush - Marvy. And that's when I asked for the tampering review. Pretty much sums up my reaction to that draw. Sheesh. Well, that's the worst I've seen this month. Should be an interesting morning. Now, that brings us to @Bama Samurai for his second round pick. I shudder at where this may go. If the shaving gods have turned the tables on me, with his influence I may be looking at a concrete ground butter knife with Parkay for the lather. Sheesh! All right sir, my Tuesday fate is in your hand. 1-15 for blade and razor, 1-6 soap, 1-7 brush.
