Quick question for the SE guru's...

Is connaughtshaving the most affordable place to get Stainless SE blades in bulk?

This afternoons shave was with my Rolls. I honed and stropped it outside of the system. This gave me a very nice shave. The only thing I am noticing with the Rolls is it does not like going ATG on my whiskers. That is ok as I just use a modified XTG going slightly ATG with very short strokes. I am finding that stretching the skin is imperative to a good shave. This is something that I need more work on. I finished with a DFS on my face and jaw line. The lowest part on my neck was a bit lacking CCS in this area. Again I attribute this to needing to stretch the skin properly.

From all that I have seen it is, even with shipping. You also know what you are getting from Connaughtshaving.

Yes I am finding that out after a few weeks with the Rapides. I like the challenge that the Rolls gives, so I will be using it every so often. I am just happy my Honing seems to be OK. Getting nice shave with the ones I am honing. I did however have to go and touchup my Rapide after last nights shave. Was not up to snuff after the 6th shave. I may have been over exuberant on the stropping the lat time. I just went with the 3 micron then 1 micron and finished it up on some Balsa with Chromium Oxide. Good to go again.

Yes All it needed was 10 per side per grit and strop. Very nice polished surface. I see what you mean now, when you said that it will shine.

    Sunday's Shave:

    E.S.F. Rapide
Rapide wedge blade (2nd shave since honing)
    The Grooming Co. synthetic brush
WSP Rustic Shaving Soap Gaelic Tweed
    Osage Rub

After using a Cobra Classic most of the past week I dialed it back about 120 years with a Rapide. Same result, though: near perfect irritation-free BBS shave.

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: GEM Stainless PTFE
    Razor: GEM Featherweight
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
Lather: C.O. Bigelow cream with M-bomb
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

No picture today since I changed my setup at the last minute. I went with Bigelow cream lathered in my scuttle. Great lather. A few drops of M-bomb livened it up some for Menthol Monday. The GEM razor mowed through 36+ hours of beard growth with no problems. I did get one tiny nick on my Adam's apple where I was being careless.

Really smooth shave for one pass with touch-up. The GEM Featherweight with a good blade is a nice razor. I really enjoy it.

    Have a good day everyone!

I'm waiting on a GEM Damaskeene to arrive, along with 7 original Damaskeene blades....
So are these blades also great candidates for honing? @Billyfergie , what do you use to hone this sort of blade?

I gave the Star a second chance today after refreshing the blade on some .3 and .1 chromium oxide on a balsa strop. Presto! A nice shave and in line with the shaves I've been getting from the wedges. I must have damaged the blade somewhere along the line before using the Star last time. Nice close shave today. :happy036:
