I have a Mongoose satin B3. Is the alumigoose 2 going to be a better shaver in your opinion or no?

I haven't tried the B3. The V2 Alumigoose is a very mild yet efficient shaver at least IMO. Hope this helps.

The V2 AlumiGoose is milder than the B2 Mongoose and I understand it is milder than the B3 Mongoose as well. I find the V1 AlumiGoose to be more aggressive than the B2 Mongoose. I use the B2 Mongoose with a Feather Super blade almost daily and find it too much blade to use in my V1 AlumiGoose.

To me the ultimate in a smooth and close shave. An Alumigoose 2 with a Rocnel line stainless steel handle sitting in a Rocnel stainless steel stand. The blade is a Feather Super Pro. It doesn't get any better at any price.

Thinking of getting a B3 from Maggards when I have the money. I love the Alumigoose but I would like something a little more aggressive. I heard they may be releasing a OC base plate and if so I will pick one of those up.

I think Mark @Boojum1 has a B3 and both V1 and V2 AlumiGoose. Maybe he will chime in on his thoughts.

I have a satin B3 and an Alumigoose 2. I cannot say that one is a better shaver than the other; they're just different. The stainless steel B3 is considerably more aggressive than the Alumigoose 2. The Feather Super Pro blade works great for me in the Alumigoose 2 but is a face shredder in the satin B3. The huge weight difference as well as the re-designed head on the Alumigoose give them a completely different feel. I use them both quite often.

This month I have been alternating the a B2 Satin Mongoose/Feather Super Pro and a V1 AlumiGoose/Feather Pro for my workday shaves. Both razors have delivered 2 pass near BBS shaves consistently.

Just when I thought the Goose couldn't get any better.... Swapped out the Goose handle for my Stirling DE3P2 Stainless Steel Handle and what a difference. The added weight helped it mow down through stubble even easier and the DE3P2 handle just feels better in the hand and I prefer the look.

It is amazing how much different handles can change the way a razors feels. Congrats.

Both the V1 AlumiGoose and B2 Mongoose continue to provide stellar work morning shaves.

I've heard some use a 'lighter' handle on their SS goose and find heavier handles with their alumigoose. Seems to me that either configuration could produce a off-balance and force a change in technique. Is that true - and if so what/ how do you change.

With my SS I use my long blackbird handle with my alumigoose (v2) I use the aluminum handle it came with and put a little pressure in the shave. But other than that don't alter technique. Both setups provide mild and comfortable shaves and relatively balanced. would using a heavier handle With alumigoose 'require' holding it at the end of the handle to allow the weight of the handle be the extra pressure? Or is it there something else to consider? From what I can tell the geometry of the heads are the same (alumigoose is smaller but angle the same) so I assume pressure is the only difference.

Also - I use feather pro in both. I've seen post where people seem to use a less aggressive blade in the SS version (e.g. Super pro alumigoose = pro in SS version). Is that weight/pressure related or is their a geometry difference I just don't notice?

I prefer lighter handles with my Batch 2 Stainless Mongoose. I find the moving to a lighter handle improved the balance for me. I was unable to buy a handle with my Version 1 AlumiGoose so I use the same artisan handles I use with the Mongoose.

As to different blades with different versions, I can say that for me I find the AlumiGoose V1 more aggressive than my B2 Mongoose. With the Mongoose I need to use a Feather Super in order to get the shave I want. Using the AlumiGoose V1 with a Feather Pro provides the same shave. The V1 AlumiGoose with a Feather Super is too much for me to use as a daily shaver.

Many people feel the V2 AlumiGoose is much milder than the SS Mongoose thus they use the Feather Super blades.

Perhaps Mark, @Boojum1 can chime in since he has both versions of the AlumiGoose.

The SS B3 Mongoose performs better for me with a lighter handle. I find that the AlumiGoose 1 is a more aggressive razor than either the SS Mongoose or the Alumigoose 2. I prefer the aluminum handles on the AlumiGeese. The Alumigoose 1 with a Feather Pro Super is the most aggressive and gives me a super close shave that lasts the longest. It will bite if I'm not careful. The Alumigoose2 is the mildest of the three. For me the Feather Pro Super is the best blade for the Alumigoose 2.

What is the screw size on the Alumigoose?
