Stick up a Pick of under the Razor...If it has x 2 patent numbers on the left of the spring then its a Type G..If it has One Number & Patent Pending then its a Type E..Its the Numbers that are Important.. Billy..
Well...speaking from experience...if you buy a Schick Eversharp SE razor...you might as well have a going away party for your DE razors. The Schick tends to fly below the radar in terms of popularity among wet shavers in general...but this is a Ferrari producing effortless, efficient shaves. My first time shaving with one I shaved half my face and couldn't tell if there was a blade in the chamber...but alas there was a blade and it was performing like a superstar. The downside for me...is that now I have 15+ DE razors...and they are gathering dust. Except for my Merkur 23c...which as part of a settlement agreement we made with my DE razors..that it would be used on alternate days with my Schick! I am in therapy now...and we have started a support group in the Injector and SE Party thread. After you try a Schick you may want to consider joining us...
"Give up my Gillettes?" That's what I said as well. It will never happen I said...and here I am with a drawer full of DEs and my mind stuck on one Schick!
I have a "G" , " "E" and a PAL adjustable. They outperform every other DE I have, by a loooong shot. Just the other day I grabbed my slim and actually regretted shaving with it Just beware they are very aggressive and are more than willing to bite if you're not careful. The injectors will go beyond BBS and give you "dolphin" smooth skin The blades are also more $$, but you can get at least 2x the shaves out of one. IMHO, injectors are the best kept secret in wet shaving. You can read all about them in the book @Billyfergie wrote. Oh! wait! he hasn't wrote it yet
I'm still trying to replicate an injector shave with a DE, I can get close. But it takes 3 passes and clean up to do what my cheap lil G can do in 2 and still, not quite there.
I go for just a one pass and touch-up shave on weekdays (work days). I can get so much closer with a Schick G than with my DE razors. That's why I'm leaning so much toward more injector and SE use. It's a tough choice!
They are Very fine shaving razors. You will find the G Type a little aggressive, and with the Chinese Schick blades, very efficient. Just remember, use almost no pressure, and use very slick lathers.
My R41 gives my injectors a run for the money in terms of a smooth finish; however, there is no comparison in terms of ease of use to achieve the result. The R41 demands respect, whereas my injectors are very maneuverable and do the job without a second thought. I have several Schicks and a Pal, and all are true performers as others have described. I reach for them often, but I have no plans to abandon my DES (vintage Gillettes and modern Muhles). The price per blade for an injector is multiples of a DE blade. I agree this is offset somewhat by the added number of shaves one can get from an injector, but it still isn't close to less than 10 cents a blade for a DE. All that said, I love my injectors and know an unbelievable shave is one to two passes away when in hand. Can't wait to hear your review, knowing how faithful you are to your Slim.
Come on now guys. My wife told me to knock it off with my purchases and now I want a Schick. Don't make me do it!
