It is a tobacco scent, it is not a heavy scent and I like to use this when the weather is warm. It has some cigar combined with ozone and does smell like smoking a cigar on a breezy beach.

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
    Brush: Semogue 1520 boar
    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Osage Rub, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG

Fat Friday! Mitchell's Wool Fat never disappoints and today was no exception. The G1 provided an excellent shave yet again. I was up a little earlier than normal and therefore had time to do two full passes. I'm pretty darn smooth. It's amazing how close an injector can shave. I went in for a tiny bit of touch-up on my lower neck in a pesky spot and probably should've left it alone. There is a tiny bit of irritation there. It should clear up pretty soon though.

I mixed in some Osage Rub with my witch hazel. The burn quickly wore off into a nice menthol finish. All in all an enjoyable shave.

Hope you all have a great Friday!

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Arko
    Injector Type J
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Clubman Vanilla AS

Another easy going shave with the Type J. I got a quick two passes in for a DFS which, since I was running, was helpful. I still can't believe I waited so long to try out Arko. It is such an easy soap to lather, and it is definitely convenient for the gym.

It is going to be a busy Friday, but should be a good one, too. I hope everyone has a great day.

Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Peppermint bar soap
    Brush- RazoRock Tri-Colored
Razor- Muhle R41 on a Maggard MR5 handle
    Blade- Bolzano (2)
    Soap- Route 66 Twisted Tweed
Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO
    AS- Florida Water with M-Bomb

Another great shave this morning! The performance of the Route 66 soaps is top tier. Excellent lather, very slick and they have an excellent scent. Slightly earthy with nice citrus and spice notes. I'll be honest though, it could smell like a sewage plant and I'd use it because of how well it works. The Bolzano blade was a little better the 2nd shave but still a bit rough over the coarser parts of my face. Three passes to a nice BBS shave. A nice spray of Florida Water with M-Bomb and I'm ready for work.

My riding the cap focus is going great. What a difference it makes in the quality of my shaves. Absolutely zero sting from the Florida Water this morning. I wish this Bolzano blade was a little smoother because the results are excellent, just not the most comfortable shave. Have a great day folks!

The @mrchick shave is in despite my oversleeping. Report tonight. Tomorrow it's the @Norcalnewb shave with some new results. The Dorco Prime blade in the Soviet Mladost II. Lather by the Vie Long 12705and Proraso green. Definitely a mixed bag.
And...that brings us back to @Mr. Freeze93 to choose for Sunday. I know he's aiming for destruction!

I have always used both. After my last pass, I do a cold water rinse. Then I put the alum on. This gives me really good feedback on where I didn't keep the angle correct. While that sits on my face, I clean and dry my lather bowl and brush. I dry my face with a towel. Then I splash some Thayers' Witch Hazel on. While that is sitting, I dry and strop my razor. Then I dry my face again, and put my aftershave on. Then I clean up the rest and call it good. I take both with me when traveling. It might be overkill, but I don't think it hurts anything either. Part of what I love about wetshaving is the ritual part of it, so this is just a quick thing I do. Its your shave, enjoy it your way. (Does @swarden43 come after people for his copy right on that?)

    Brush: Razorock 24mm Finest Badger
    Lather: The Fat
Post Shave Care: Maggard Alum/ Thayers Medicated Superhazel
    Aftershave: The Veg

Started my new job today so didn't want to butcher myself on my first day... now that my coworkers all know I am a nut I can return to MAYhem tomorrow.

2 passes and I am BBS. No nicks, irritation, weepers, tears, curses, or nuclear disasters. Alum was silent and The Veg gave no burn.

Sorry for such a boring shave today guys.... Well I am off to hide as I am sure @NCoxSTL will be sending over one of the boys over to bash my head off my keyboard for having a safe shave. That's ok I am ready.. I think I will be fine.. I usually use both alum and AS. The alum lets me know how smooth, irritation free my shave was and if the irritation is below a certain level I wash it off with cold water then apply the AS. If the irritation is above a certain level I apply the AS over the alum.

Saturday and looking forward to a straight razor shave not a MAYhem pain stick shave.

Up today is my Jacob Ray 7/8 in bone monster. This is a heavy razor, which I like. Who says you can't have a smooth and sharp blade? Thanks to Glen @gssixgun this razor is very smooth and very sharp. I could not hone this razor to save my life, safe to say I can see the difference between a pro and amateur honer.

I don't have any plans today so I was just going to do 3 passes but everything was going perfect. When I straight shave with Caties' Bubbles or MdC I always add liquid lanolin and the lather was feeling good. I thought an epic shave is in reach so I pressed on for the 4th pass. Alum test, no feedback, faceturbating.... oh yeah BBS.

We discussed who we were sending until we realized that considering the damage you've done to yourself this month we probably can't make it worse. So, we'll give you a pass on this one. Once you heal up we may do a retroactive face on keyboard smashing. Assuming they don't get distracted by vodka.

Razor - 1918 Gillette Old Style
    Blade - big-ben-blue.jpg (1)
    Brush - Marvy
    Soap - Arko
Post - Alum, Nivea, The Veg

The @mrchick second round shave was, well let's say, different. A blade I don't think I've ever used, though I've used a couple of the Lord blades and I'm not a big fan. The Old Style razor is probably not the best razor to try new blades in for a first time but it's certainly not the worst either! Arko? Yep, that works. Marvy brush? Not so much.

Now, in the brush's defense, it hasn't disintegrated like @John Ruschmeyer 's did on him. It still mostly intact bristle-wise, but the small knot and lousy quality boar bristle (maybe sow instead, not sure) makes it a challenge to lather. Fortunately Arko is immune to horrible gear, or at least highly resistant. So I did manage a decent enough lather but didn't enjoy the process much. Still shedding a bit and really doesn't work the lather right. Still, slick and some cushion so no worries.

The blade was a bit of a surprise after my experience with Lord's. Not too bad. Since I'm new to it I'm not sure if it runs more mild or aggressive on its own, so it's possible it's a milder blade that works better in the aggressive 1918. Or, maybe my technique and staying on the cap enough was what made it pretty decent. Aggressive shave, to be expected for the razor, but not overly so with this blade. Two passes and touch up and I was at a very very nice DFS so I called it good. I think another pass might have found the baby but I also think it would have pushed the irritation over the edge.

As it was, the alum was a bit stingy but not horrible. Nivea cooled it off and I added a splash of the Veg just before heading out the door. Just to draw those customers in. And it worked! I'd use this combination again on one condition. I'll pick a real brush instead of the Marvy cheap imitation of a cheap imitation of a brush.

So, moving on to the @Norcalnewb shave tomorrow it looks like we have the Dorco Prime in the Mladost II.....in other words.......a blade I don't enjoy in a Soviet razor that is engineered like, well a Soviet razor. MAYBE a step above the Soyuz 1. The difference...if they were both space craft, the Soyuz 1 would fall in a blaze of glory to smash and explode the cosmonaut into a pile of carbon. The Mladost would only reduce him to a pile of bloody goo. Proraso and the big Horse for the lather, so there may be hope.

Hope your weekend is going to be great! Oh, by the way @Mr. Freeze93 you're up for Sunday.....or did you already pick? I was busy enough to day I may have missed it. Either way, show me the numbers!!
