I have been quite fortunate to win a few PIFs from generous TSD members and am reminded daily of the of terrific and giving people who populate this forum. Troy @Troy M put up a PIF late last year that I was lucky enough to win. Part of Troy's regulations on that PIF were that the winner should continue to pass on the goods of the PIF for another's enjoyment. I hope to fulfill that request with this PIF. I had an inkling to try straight razor shaving but have not been able to thus far. My interests are trending towards injector and SE razors at this point and I want to explore that realm of razors more. Hopefully these items will benefit someone who is looking to get into straight shaving or who can use them better than I can. This PIF includes three straight razors with a handy soft storage case. Two Gold Dollar razors and one R. Droescher Gold Bug razor. The Gold Bug razor is considered shave ready. The second part is two strops, bothfrom Drygulch Leatherworks and the talented hands of Adam @Drygulch. The smaller one on the right is a practice strop. Regulations for this PIF: 1. Say "I'm in". 2. Describe or attach a picture of a favorite or sentimental item that is made from leather. Perhaps a wallet, or your grandfather's belt, etc. Creativity is encouraged, but keep it clean! 3. Open to CONUS only or US Bro rule. 4. You must have at least 25 posts to qualify as a winner. My knowledge of these items is virtually zero. I know nothing about straights or strops. Any technical questions may have to be referred to those who actually know something! Entries will continue until Thursday, May 26. I will draw a winner by random draw then and do my best to ship on the next day. Thank you to @Troy M for a nice PIF and I hope the winner enjoys these goods. Good luck! -------------------------- Entrants so far: 1. DDuckyMark 2. Pilotcld 3. Joelio 4. samarijack 5. FatherofSquirrel 6. whiteboy_cannon 7. aqualung 8. AGHisBBS 9. twhite 10. Joe Babb 11. Great PIF. Not In because I already own a strop by Adam, and enjoy straight shaving. Good luck and welcome to the darkside...lol.
I'm in. I have an old set of leather wrapped binoculars that belonged to my Great Grandfather. brass and leather and still mostly working. they are in an old broken leather case.
Awesome PIF!! I'm in! My sentimental leather piece is my great-grandpa's Shell strop. It is still the only strop I own and I received it along with his Dubl duck SR! I would love one of @Drygulch 's strops, but SWMBO hasn't given me any allowance yet here is a pic of my heirloom strop that I restored! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm in! My sentimental leather object is my oldest sons first belt. It's an Avengers belt, and it makes me proud to know that I'm passing on my legacy of nerdiness to another generation!!
I shave almost everyday with a straight so Not In It is still amazing to me how much generosity this group of people (you all at the Den) generate. Very kind of you.
Wow, what an awesome PIF. I wish I were ready for straights, but I am not so not in Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I'm in. Been wanting to try straights but can afford the heavy up front costs. This would be great - thanks for passing it on. I'm not sure if I have anything of leather that is treasured. But SWMBO gave me a great leather briefcase I use every day. I do love it actually - so that's the one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks! I really do love having it. My mom is happy I'm using his things because she was very close to him before he passed away.
I've always wanted to use a straight. I'm in. I have a leather jacket which I love. SWMBO says its old and ugly and ruined. I just look at her and shake my head. I try to explain its broken in and supposed to look that way.
Not in but great PIF! Just out of curiosity, what is the US bro thing? Seen that a couple times already.
I'm in! I have my grandfather's belt that has his initials on it and a sweet eagle belt buckle. Are any of the straights shave ready? Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
To my understanding it's someone in CONUS that I would mail to who would then shepherd it on to someone out of the US. So if XYZ won and he's in Europe then he may have a CONUS buddy who would act as the middleman.
I don't think the Gold Dollars are, but the Gold Bug was. Both strops are from Adam, the simple one on the right is just a practice strop, so you don't cut the good one while you learn.
I'm in. I have an old leather wallet that my great great grandfather carried while serving in WWI. It has been passed down from generation to generation. If I ever have a son and/or nephew, it will go to him. If not then I guess my daughter will get it and hold in to it.
