Here's my B2 setup for Monday, first day back from vacation and, unfortunately, back to work. Using a Chick blade. It's loaded, but doesn't seem very tight. Is that normal?.
Don't try this yet Herm, Billy or Karl should be around soon....but... I think the brass blade holder can be tweaked to make it tighter. I think I remember reading around here somewhere that with the blade removed, one could take a flat piece of wood, and with it placed along the entire length of the brass spring plate, gentle apply pressure uniformly across the entire length to try to depress the spring back into shape. But the caveat- don't trust my novice background, maybe wait to hear from the aforementioned experts.
I'm not Repeater Certified but I have seen posts from @Billyfergie suggesting exactly as you suggest. Pressing it against a flat surface to tighten the grip. And I'm pretty darn certain some others on this forum have done this so I defer to their greater experience and wisdom.
+ 1..The Blade will Always be More Kinda Loose than you are Used too..As long as its Not Moving when Shaving its Fine.. Billy..
My fellow SRROC members. I used my B type for the first time today. My concerns about a loose blade were unwarranted (Thanks Vince, Karl and Billy) as the shave went without incident. I'd put off using the repeater just because I was a little intimidated by its apparent aggressiveness. I was so pleasantly surprised! It was not aggressive at all! This was one of the easiest and most pleasant injector shaves I've had to date. No grabbing, no loud "Velcro" noises, just shaving. With my E's, G's and others I never had better than a CCS (on a scale of BBS, DFS, CCS). This was as close as any DE shave I've had. The only problems are the unbalanced weight toward the handle and maintaining the handle at nearly 90 degrees from my face. Other than those two minor issues it was quite fun! I plan on using this until the Bunny arrives!
Aye..The Angle takes a Moment..The Bunny has a Similar Angle so when it comes You will be Well used to that Angle..That's a Lovely Example You Have there.. Billy..
Thank you, Billy. I kinda thought the angle looked similar to the Bunny, that's why I thought I'd try it out. I've also got a silver type B that I might try.
Congrats, most impressive Herm! It's just a great feeling when it all comes together on a first shave with a razor. I think you've mapped out a great strategy in preparation for the Bunny. Shaving with your Repeaters as much as you can between now and then will pay huge benefits during your limited time with the Bunny - because as noted by others the Repeaters (and the Schick F) are as close to the Bunny characteristics as any other razors. (IMHO) Enjoy!
Day number two with the Type B. I was in a hurry, so I didn't pay as close attention to angle and technique as I should have. While the end result of the two pass shave was fine, the shave itself felt rough and agitated. No irritation, just not as comfortable as yesterday. Not a pleasant journey, but a good result. I'm still learning.
Take your time and feel it out, that's a fine shaver you have there. Don't worry so much about the angle just how it feels.
I took my time today and the B type gave me a nice, comfortable shave. My technique is lacking a bit and I tend to stray into too steep of an angle. Today I watched and it was fine!
Great! I have also found that after using the repeating razors for a while it becomes second nature and you just pick it up and go!
Way to go. It looks really nice. Do you have it in your hot little hands yet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I opened the package, took the pic and left on a trip. It will be cleaned and shaved with next week. Can't wait.
Been doing a Schick Simplified Automatic C3 Focus lately myself.....Not intentionally....But this dang thing has just taken off like Secretariat in the home stretch...and is consistantly delivering the best shaves non-stop.... I can't keep my hands off of it.........I'm not kidding....I'm having trouble reaching for anything else.....
Hi all. i wish to join your illustrious club with this as my entry! It was gifted to me after un-jamming one for a friend. Thanks @huntereyes_ The un-jammed razor resulted in this... It was totally worth it though!!
